Chapter 12

POV Jughead

The next morning Toni, Sweet Pea, Fangs and I arrived at the school together. We chatted about the events of the night before as we got off our bikes and walked into the school.

"Betty seemed kinda pissed when she left last night" Toni said to me. I smirked remembering how the blonde glared at me after paying and stormed off to Cheryl's car with Veronica.

"Veronica was mad too" Fangs added and Sweet Pea frowned.

"So?" I asked. Toni sighed and shook her head.

"So, if you want to be with them, don't you think pissing them off is the wrong way to do it?" Toni asked, annoyed. I shrugged.

"Maybe but I'm not going to just do everything she wants. You know me, I'm not made that way" I explained.

"Plus she's sexy when she mad" I smirked.

"You are hopeless." Toni shook her head and walked off to her locker with Fangs.

I looked at Sweet Pea and shrugged. He chuckled and we went to our lockers and then to the student lounge. Fangs and Toni met us at the door. We walked in and spotted Betty, C, V and Kevin on the cozy couch in the corner. Fangs and Toni hurried over and Sweet Pea and I followed them.

"How's my favorite North Siders doing today?" Fangs asked as we walked up. They all turned and smiled at Fangs and Toni but frowned and glared at Sweet Pea and I.

"We're good. How are you?" Kevin asked and Fangs grinned. Just then the bell rang and I noticed a look of relief run over Betty's face.

The morning was much like the day before. I kept trying to find Betty but she was always with someone. Finally it was lunch time. We sat in the same group but V and Betty made sure to sit so Sweet Pea and I couldn't sit next to either of them.

"When are we shopping for the dance?" Kevin asked them. They looked at each other and shrugged.

"You need dresses" C reminded them.

"We could go tomorrow afternoon" Betty suggested and V nodded.

"Good. We'll leave from school." C decided.

"Toni, do you need a dress?" she asked the pink haired girl.  Toni looked up in surprise.

"Umm... yeah." Toni said hesitantly.

"You should come with us!" Betty invited her with a grin as V nodded with excitement. C looked at them happily.

"Oh! Ok!" Toni agreed with surprise.

"Thanks" she added a second later and the girls all smiled at each other. A sound erupted from Betty's purse. She looked startled for a moment and then grabbed her phone and looked at the display. She grinned and showed it to V who also grinned before answering it.

"Hey, Mac!" she said and paused.

"Aww. We miss you too!"  Betty continued while the rest of us listened to the one sided conversation.

"We really do!" V yelled at the phone.

"Yeah that's her. We're at lunch together."

"Ok. You know, it's different"

"Really? When?"

"Friday? This Friday?"

"OK. What time?"

"Eleven will work. I can't wait! V's going to lose it when I tell her!"

"Ok. Text me details. See you!"

Betty had a huge smile as she hung up and put her phone away.

"What's going on?" V asked.

"Mac is coming to visit us! This Friday!" Betty yelled and V hugged her with excitement. Suddenly, Betty tried to look disappointed.

"Oh, no! I forgot about the dance! Sorry Jug, I'm going to have to cancel" she said with her fake frown as she turned to me. V quickly caught on.

"Yeah. I am too, Sweet Pea. Mac is our best friend from New York. It would be rude if we weren't there" V was an even worse actress than Betty.

"No you won't" I replied with a grin. Both the girls looked at me with confusion.

"Mac isn't coming until eleven, right?" I asked and Betty nodded slowly. I caught C trying to mouth something to Betty but she stopped when I turned my head and Betty didn't get the message.

"That's perfect. The dance ends at eleven. We can leave a few minutes early and meet your friend. Then we can take all of you, including her, to the Worm to hang" I smirked. Betty looked annoyed.

"I'm not sure if Mac will want to go to the Worm. Or if our Mom's will let us" V pointed out and Betty nodded.

"I'm sure your Moms won't care. I heard that they let you party all over New York. Alice practically grew up at the Worm. If Mac is anything like the two of you, she'll love it too." Sweet Pea argued.

"Fine" Betty muttered.

"Mac? I don't think that I met her" C said as she crinkled her nose in thought.

"Yeah you did. At the club last year AND the wedding" V prompted but shook her head.

"Imagine Archie but with coffee colored skin, hair and eyes" Betty added and C had a moment of realization.

"Oh! THAT guy was hot! I thought that he was one of your 'buddies' Betty" C exclaimed. I glared as I saw that C put air quotes around the word buddies.

"Wait! Mac is a dude?" Sweet Pea was always a bit late to the party. Betty and Veronica chuckled.

"He was, at first. But then they got along so well that they decided to be friends too" V explained and Betty nodded.

"So he's your friend?" Toni clarified.

"Sometimes" Betty said with a smirk. I was growing more and more annoyed with the conversation. The bell rang then and we cleared up and went to the rest of our classes.

POV Betty

I was pissed that my impromptu plan to ditch the dance didn't work but I was happy that Mac was coming. He's one of my best friends plus he's fun to make out with when I'm bored. Veronica is convinced that he's in love with me but I know that he values his freedom as much as I do mine. I caught Jughead looking angry when he figured out that Mac was a guy. I could use this to prove a point to Jug. I grinned at V as we walked to our next class.

"What?" she asked

"Do you think that Mac would play at being my boyfriend this weekend? Like we could fake start a relationship to get Jughead off my junk?" I asked and V looked at me in wonder.

"Why didn't I think of that?" she lamented and I grinned. Hopefully this drama would all be over by the end of the weekend.

I quickly texted Mac about the Jughead issue and asked for his help as a fake boyfriend. I put my phone away as class began.

After class, I grabbed my phone as I walked out to the hallway. I grinned when I saw Mac's response.

"Good news?" V asked with a smile and I nodded.

"Mac's in" I announced. Suddenly I was extremely excited for Friday.
