Chapter 30

POV Jughead

 Alice, Hermione, Veronica and FP came back in the late morning and they and Betty insisted on sending me home. After much arguing, Sweet Pea showed up and practically drug me out of the hospital and back to my house.

"I'm just going to shower and change and then we are heading back" I said and he nodded.

"Fine, boss. Whatever." he agreed as we pulled up at the house.

"Some of the boys brought back everyone's bikes. The rest of the gang already gave their statements to the police with no problems. The cops said that they would be at the hospital this afternoon to talk to the rest of us. Fangs, Mac, and Kevin are picking up Polly at the airport and taking her right to the hospital. C and Toni are at Toni's house but they are heading to the hospital in an hour or so to bring everyone lunch." Sweet Pea continued as we walked in.

"Thanks for taking care of everything. FP's been handling Alice and Hermione and I can't seem to let Betty out of my sight" I replied. He looked confused and I quickly told him what happened after everyone left this morning. He shook his head and chuckled.

"She is something, huh?" he scoffed and I nodded.

"How's V doing?" I asked and he shrugged.

"I called her after they got home and she was a mess. I ended up at their house for a few hours this morning just so she would get some sleep" he informed me and I nodded.

"Of course, this morning she wanted nothing to do with me after we got up." he added and I smirked.

"She's going through a lot. Just support her" I advised and he chuckled.

"You're going soft on me, boss." he pointed out and I shrugged.

"She's worth it" I replied. He nodded.

"Yep. They both are." he added. I hurried off to shower and dress. As I was finishing, I heard a knock at the door. Sweet Pea opened the door and sounded surprised.

"What are you doing here?" he asked as I walked up. I looked around him and saw Archie. 

"You look like crap, Arch. Why are you here?" I asked as I motioned for him to come in.

"Is it true?!" he asked frantically. Sweet Pea and I looked at him and he ran his hands through his hair.

"Did Betty's Dad really do all those awful things that they are saying? Did he try to kill her?" he demanded. I sighed.

"Yeah, he did. He was a monster" I explained and Archie paled. He looked at me and I saw panic in his face.

"It's okay, man. He's dead. Betty got hurt but she'll be alright. She killed him" Sweet Pea continued and Archie shut his eyes and shook his head.

"This is all my fault" he whispered and instantly Sweet Pea and I are up with our hands clenched in fists.

"You better explain quickly" I snapped darkly.

POV Betty.

I'm officially over all of this. Mom, Hermione, Veronica even FP are making me lose my patience. They are fussing over me constantly and I'm actually sorry that I sent Jughead home. I could have maybe gotten him to at least glare at them for a while. Maybe they would have backed off. My Mom just finished fluffing my pillow for the tenth time when Polly, Fangs, Kevin and Mac walked in. I smiled to see them as Polly made a beeline for me.

"Oh, Betty! I'm so sorry that I wasn't here!" she cried as I held her.

"Can you give us a moment?" I asked the others and they quietly left the room.
