Mate

I kissed my mate, Blake before he went off to do a patrol run. "I'll miss you, babe." He looks down staring into my eyes, I look back staring into his enchanting blue eyes and move his dark shoulder length hair away from his eye. I should look at him with love but I don't love him or like him, I don't hate him either. It's not always been like this with him but I don't feel like sharing this with him, just yet.

"I'll miss you too, stay safe okay?" I put my palm on his cheek, he leaned into my hand. I give him a small smile and walk back towards the pack house. We were near the border of the Alaska Blue Flower territory line. That's the pack we're both apart of, sounds very hippy but it was the sole reason why a bunch of us young people are here today.

The Blue Flower is the Forget-Me-Not Flower that seventy years ago led a trail to a river that Alpha Duke and the rest of the small make shift clan at the time, to safety after the forest was on fire. They named themselves the Blue Flower pack as it led them to salvation away from the fire.

The clan moved to this valley in a vast sea of green grass, trees, and mountains. We still reside here and when it's summer time, life flourishes with color and plants. I love going past the border and hiding in my  cave, my haven away from life. Nobody gets tired of people more than I do, luckily I haven't had trouble with getting caught off territory.

I arrive at the pack house, not really house but a huge three story mansion enough to hold about one hundred people easily without overcrowding. There's people who live in there own houses around the pack house too but my mate is the Beta so we stay on the second floor of the pack house.

Not like we're more important than everyone else but rather because he's the Beta and the second in command. He needs to be at the Alphas side 24/7, following his demands, making sure guards are doing everything good, basically whatever the Alpha commands.

I walk straight into the kitchen looking for something that can be considered lunch. I haven't eaten anything since yesterday and I'm hungry. "Hello Veronica." I greet with a polite tone. She looks to be cooking eggs for her and her kids, Erica and Ryan.

"Good morning Ivy. How did you sleep?" I sigh and grab and apple. "I couldn't go to sleep until about 2 am, how do you think I slept?" I huff in irritation. She gives me a look then back at her kids. "Were you and Blake trying to make babies?" She whispers to me. I blush red with embarrassment. "No. We were not. I couldn't sleep because my lower back is bothering me." I respond angrily.

I leave the kitchen and walk to me and Blake's room. I lock the door so no one bothers me in my peaceful silence. I lay down on the bed and try and get comfortable and eat my apple. Hardly lunch material but it suffices, I need to focus on how I am going to ask Blake to visit my family in Canada, alone. He probably won't even let me go anywhere where he isn't.

Why is having a mate so frustrating? I groan aloud in anger and disgust. Not because I have a mate but because I'm disgusted at how much affection and care goes with it. I hear the door being unlocked and I peer over with scrutiny. The door opens and in walks Alpha Derek, I bolt up off the bed and stand.

"Alpha." I say with respect. "Hello Ivy. Sorry to intrude I came here looking for Blake. Do you know where he is?" I glance at the clock on the nightstand. "He was on a patrol run 42 minutes ago, Alpha." I fidget in nervousness, he stares at me for a second more. "Okay. Thank you Ivy, sorry for interrupting your day." He leaves, and I fall back onto the bed.

Fuck, I need to go and help clean up after dinner tonight. Fucking Blake volunteering me for shit I don't like to do. I get up and look at the clock again 16:42 pm, dinner should start at 17:30. That means I can grab a plate of dinner, eat in here, then wait about an hour and a half before I get to clean up.
