After signing all of the discharge papers and packing all of my things, we started to get ready to head home. I changed into a pair of black sweatpants and a red hoodie. I slid my beanie on before slowly walking out of the bathroom. A nurse was waiting for me with a wheelchair.
"They are all waiting for you," she said with a smile. I nodded and took one last look at the room before sitting in the wheelchair. She took me out to my family.
"You ready to go home?" Vic asked. He kissed the top of my head. I simply nodded as I watched everyone walk out to the cars. Once we were outside, I slowly stood up from my wheelchair. Jackson ran over to me and helped me walk to my dad's car and helped me in.
The ride to the house seemed short. Once I got inside, I took some time to take in the view. So much had changed. Furniture had been moved, decorations were changed, the smell... It smelled like pasta and roses. I walked to the kitchen. Danielle was there cooking.
"Welcome home dear! I'm making your favorite," Danielle turned with a big grin on her face. I gave her a smile back. "Go look in the living room." I nodded and walked to the living room. Bouquets of roses were placed all over the living room. A banner was over the fireplace that read Welcome Home Faith. Tears started to form in my eyes. I turned around seeing my family, Alex, and Jackson. I walked over to them and gave them a hug.
"Thank you..." I said, my voice cracking form the tears.
We spent the next few hours eating, playing games and having a complete blast. At one point it got really quiet.
"I love you guys. I mean it. You too, Alex. I couldn't have asked for a better family to join. You have been there for me through adoption, tours, Jace's allergic reaction, my cancer... I would do anything for you guys. I love you," I said with a soft smile. Everyone said I love you back. I could hear them sniffling.

After a while, Danielle got up and grabbed a big bag from the closet and brought it over to the living room.
"What's that?" I asked.
"Just a little something from all of us," She said sitting beside me. Inside were wrapped presents. I grabbed the top one.
"Jace..." I opened it. Inside was a purple owl stuffed animal. I looked up at him and smiled. "Thank you." I reached in and grabbed another.
"Alex. You didn't have to," I said. He shook his head and laughed softly.
"Don't complain. Just open it," I nodded and opened it. It was a small box. Inside was a bracelet with my initials engraved into it.
Dad got me a stuffed Turtle, my favorite animal, and a gift card to my favorite store. Danielle got me a cancer free shirt and a few headbands and some makeup.
"Thanks mom, thanks dad," I smiled as I looked at them. Danielle smiled as tears came from her eyes. "One day you will stop that." I said.
"I'm sorry. You are calling me your mother. That means a lot to me. Nothing but joy fills my heart," she said, wiping her tears.
"That's because you are my mom. I wouldn't want anyone else. Even though Tina was the orphanage 'mother', she never acted like one. I don't care that you and my dad aren't married. You are still my mother," I said with a wide grin. We hugged and I wiped the tears that had started to fall.
"There's one more," Vic said. I sat up and picked up a small bag. Inside was a gift card for the local wig store. I pulled out a little box. Inside was a set of keys and a ring with a gold band. I looked at box intently.
"Wait...what?" I asked. Jackson stood up and stood in front of me. He took the box and pulled out the ring.
"It's a promise ring," he slid the ring onto my right hand ring finger. He then pulled out the keys. "I got you a car...so you can get around on your own. The other keys are to this house, and then my place here and in Essex. Come by whenever you like." He said with a soft smile. I stood up cautiously and gave him a big hug, planting a kiss on his cheek.
My love, my family, my life.
Life comes together, but I know my story is not over.
