The Story of the Twins

“So….who’s this?” asked Tails again. Anna looked over at him, wondering how he could not see the resemblance between the two of them. Soni looked at Tails, seeming very confused.

“Maddie what are you doing here?” she asked.

“Maddie?” asked Tails. “You got it all wrong. My name is Miles Prower but you can call me Tails.”

“Who’s Maddie?” asked Anna.

“Maddie is a kitsune I stayed with along with another hedgehog and an echidna for the past 7 years.”

“Never answered my question….” said Tails.

“Oh sorry,” said Soni. “The name’s Soni. Soni the Hedgehog.”

“And…why are you here?”

“Tails, remember when I said it was a long story?” asked Sonic.

“Yeah.”

“I’ll let Anna explain.”

“Soni is my twin sister,” said Anna.

“T-t-twin…?”

“Dude I had the same reaction,” said Sonic. Tails looked over at Soni, looking for a resemblance between the two. They both had the same face only different colored fur.

“So…..you had a twin and never told us?” asked Tails, feeling left out.

“No, no Tails. I didn’t remember her so how could I know.”

“What happened?”

“I think Soni can explain more than I can.” They all sat down, waiting for Soni to tell the story.

“It began when we were just little girls. All I remember of my past is my sister and the flames. I woke up in Knothole Forest, bruises and burn marks everywhere. I didn’t remember my name until I heard a voice in my head go, “Soni, come here.” It was a woman’s voice, and could easily be Mother’s, but I don’t know for sure. But it was a memory. I had started walking when I heard voices ahead. They were a hedgehog, echidna, and kitsune. Their names were Jess, Nicky and Maddie and they took me to their camp in the desert. There, I trained for 7 years on how to fight robots. Every week or so, there’d be robots coming to take Jess away, but they’d never succeed. We were just too strong. About 3 years ago, I saw something blue and a memory of Anna came up. I thought it was her, only to see it was a fox in need of help. She said she saw what happened on that horrible night, but since it was around midnight at the time, she thought her mind was just messing with her. But ever since then, she’s been looking for the girls she saw get chased by the robots, us. She found Anna first. It was about 5 years before she headed towards Station Square. She had bruises and scars that were just starting to heal. But from a distance, it was hard to tell. She came to find me and tell me that you were alive. I left the camp and it took me a year to get out of the desert and to the edge of Knothole Forest. We didn’t know where you were, so we started aimlessly moving around after we got out of the forest. We ran into almost all of your friends, Sonic. Shadow, Rouge, Cream, we even ran into Blaze and Silver. That was a couple months ago. They said they knew an Anna in Station Square, which we had no idea where it was, and took us another couple months to reach here. When we got here, robots were everywhere. On instinct, I fought them, especially the one that was outside. I saw something blue in here and thought it was Anna, only to find out it was Sonic. Anna was hidden from few. But when she came out, old memories had come back, and I remembered who she was.”

Everyone stayed silent, not moving or speaking a word. Sonic and Tails now know the past of Anna’s twin, but her own was still a mystery. “Anna?” asked Sonic. “Do you remember what happened after the fire?”
