The Store Run

"NO!" I woke up screaming. I noticed Sonic wan't around but Tails came barging in.

"Are you okay?"

"Nightmare. I'll be fine."

"What was it about?"

"I don't want to talk about it." I looked down and covered my chest which was partly bare cause my shirt had moved up, showing one of the many scars that I have. I don't think Tails noticed, but he came and sat down next to me.

"What happened in your past that makes you scared on the inside?"

"Tails, my entire life I've been getting into trouble. Bullies, villains, all of them. It's like I'm a magnet drawing them closer to me. And nobody comes to help me. Except for you and Sonic. And I'm very greatful. But this Eggman is different than the others. He seems more determined, and in the past I would get out one way......or another." I said the last sentence a bit slowly as I rubbed the scar on my arm. "But getting away always came with a price. A hard fall, or just getting deep cuts. But with Eggman, I don't think I can get away from his grasp if I'm in it alone."

"But you won't be alone. Sonic and I will always be there."

"That's what brings the hope." I smiled at him and stood up, not wanting to stay in the room for long. It was rather clean, hardly ever used, something you wouldn't expect of a boy's room. "Um... which room am I in?"

"Sonic's." He took me into his room?

"Does he ever use it?"

"Hardly. He's usually running or sleeping somewhere else." I nodded and realized the sun was comming up. It was beutiful, yet really bright.The mountains set perfectly as the sun rose over them. Tails walked into the kitchen, getting ready to cook breakfast I guess. I wasn't all the hungry, that is until I remembered the french fries yesturday.

"Oh no....."

"What?"

"I left food in the oven last night."

"Let me check if there was a fire." Tails turned the news on and sure enough, there was a fire at the apartments after a couple robots came in.

"Guess I'm not going back." I looked down at my clothes I wore yesturday and realized I no longer had clothing to wear. I mentally swore in my head, not wanting to do it when Tails was around. I went into the bathroom, wanting to freshen up since I had just woken up. My quills weren't that bad. I'd take a shower but I didn't have any shampoo or conditioner. I'd have to go shopping for supplies and clothes since I have no clothes, no cleaning materials, and since this is a boy's house there are no supplies for if I have an accident. Lucky for me it just ended so I have another month to worry about it. I got my quills wet and was able to stabilize them until I could get a brush. Today was going to be shopping day if those dang robots would leave me alone. And it'd be awkward if either Sonic or Tails come with me to get girl stuff. Ha. Lucky for them I'm not a make up person. Chapstick is all I basically need. No eyeliner, eye shadow, or lipstick.

I walked out to see Tails cooking breakfast and had the TV on Fairly Odd Parents. I hadn't seen it in a while, before my parents died. That was 12 years ago. I'm surprised they're still making new episodes. But this episode was a rerun. Another Christmas Special. Christmas hadn't really been apart of my life for a while. I would always be busy running or moving. And because of that, I didn't have very many friends. Just mostly enemies. So I'm happy that I have friends now. I sat down on the couch and watched the episode to see the happyness in it, remembering the years of Christmas with my parents. We still had villains after us, but we would always celebrate Christmas. Then it came to me.

"Hey Tails?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you and Sonic celebrate Christmas?"

"We sure do," said a voice behind me. I jumped and turned around to see Sonic standing behind me. "Hehe, sorry."

"Oh. It's okay." I tried to catch my breath, breathing deeply. Tails walked in with plates of food on them. Some I've never had before. Eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, it all looked really good. I ate the hashbrowns slowly. They were really good. The sausage and bacon maybe a little too greasy. I didn't even go near the eggs but I ate most of it. The boys were done before me and discussing their plans for the day.

"I have to go get Amy a present for Christmas," said Sonic. "She'll kill me if I don't."

"I'll stay on her good side and do the same. Do you have any plans Anna?"

"Oh....I have to do some shopping. Supplies and stuff."

"What about supplies at your apartment?" asked Sonic. Tails turned on the news and the apartment building where my room was was still in flames. "Oh. What happened?"

"Food in the oven. Stupid robots made me leave early before they were done."

"You sure you want to go alone?"

"You sure you want to go with me to get girl stuff?" Sonic and Tails stayed silent for a while. "That's what I thought. I'll call if I get into trouble. Which will, I'm sure, happen. Did you see anything on your run?"

"Robots on every corner. I can stay outside the store while you shop."

"You've seen me run, sort of. I can keep them behind me, and then loose them somewhere. They really aren't that fast."

"And if they have jets?"

"Then I'm in trouble."

"So what do you want to do?"

"Don't you have to do Christmas shopping?"

"Yeah," they both said at the same time.

"Then we can all go to the store, just in different sections. We can meet in the front of the store."

"Sounds good," said Tails.

"Let's go," said Sonic. He ran by my side and picked me up again as if I didn't weigh 100 pounds, and ran out side with Tails following. We dodged robots and took alleys to get to the store. It didn't take long with Sonic's speed, but we should have waited till the food settled. I closed my eyes to get rid of the nausea and soon enough Sonic stopped and we were outside the store. He set me down and went inside real quick. It may take him a while to do Christmas Shopping so I got a cart and went to the products. First things I got were the simple brush, shampoo, and conditioner. I picked out tooth paste and a simple tooth brush then went to the clothing area. I got the basics, under clothing, shirts, jeans, sweats, new socks, and a couple dresses. Since it was Winter time there weren't any shorts. So I'd have to make deal with the ones I had. I also got pj tops and bottoms. Then I was ready to check out. Since most of it was 50% off, it was only 25 dollars. I saw Sonic and Tails by the door with sacks waiting for me. As I finished paying, a robot walked in and looked straight at me. I got my bag out of the cart then got eye contact with Sonic and I really hope he reads my eyes. He seemed to understand I was worried about something and looked around and saw the robot.

He talked to Tails real quick then ran over to my side and picked me up and out of the store. Tails stayed behind and got the robot outside and destroyed before he caught up to us. We reached Tails' workshop, not bothering to use alleys and locked the door behind us.

"That was close," I said. Both Tails and Sonic nodded in answer then got a thoughtful look on their faces. I'd bet we're all thinking the same thing. Why come after me?
