"MAGGIE JANE PHLASP GET UP!" my mom screamed up the stairs to try and get me up on a Monday morning while I was wrapped in my soft fleece sheets, under the comforter, with my big cozy sweats on.
See normally that wouldn't have any affect on me waking up judging by how comfy I was but you know I actually have something to look forward to today. Kian.
"OKAY IM UP GOSH MOM!" I yelled back downstairs as I was changing into a different maroon hoodie and leggings.
I know I'm going to school, where I'll see Kian, so you'd assume I'd actually wanna dress up but I'm not one to work to impress a guy. Like me for who I am or don't like me at all I guess.
"Mom, are my leather boots by the door?" I asked down the stairs. I didn't recall putting them there but they aren't in my room.
"Yes honey, they are. Are you almost ready for school?" she asked to be sure, considering I almost never actually get up.
"Yes mom almost." I replied as I tossed on a little bit of makeup because looking at my own face without it urges my stomach.
I feel so ugly and fat. The hoodie and sweats isn't helping but I'm ugly either way so I guess I mine as well be comfortable while I'm at it. I'm like 5'3 and 102 lbs, which is considered underweight for my height but it doesn't matter how many times someone tells me I'm pretty or skinny I can never see it. I look at my scars and remember what a lowlife I am.
I went back to getting ready after meandering through my thoughts, I brushed my teeth, pinned back my bangs, put on some deodorant, 'Pink Ice by Rue 21' perfume, and lotion for my dry, scaly hands. I ran downstairs to my mother who was getting my sister ready, ignored the banana she had sitting out for me and threw on my leather boots with the folded down flaps with fur on them. I grabbed my book bag and opened the door to leave when my mom interrupted,"Maggie, don't you want your banana?" she asked concerned.
"Mother I had a banana already. I ate." I said, knowing it was a lie as soon as it stepped foot from my deceitful tongue. I'm trying to lose weight so I don't eat all that much and I wasn't really hungry.
"Okay... have a good day then." She said as I went out the door to get into my car to get to school a little early for a certain someone. Well and Tris of course.
She's asked me the same question, "Have I ate breakfast" for like 3 consecutive months unsure whether or not to believe me. Which I mean I know I'm lying so she probably shouldn't.
**********Arriving to school (aka hells fortress)***********
I just tried to slip past everyone and everything and get to my locker when someone's appearance came to my surprise. It was Kian."Hey Mags." He said to me with a cute little smirk.
"Hi." I said as I smiled just a little.
"Can I walk you to----" he was cut off by a VERY familiar-to-my-ears voice.
"Heyyyyyyyyy Magster!" Tris came up to me skipping all jolly in himself. Noticing Kian he loudly proclaimed, "Oh umm excuuuuuse me sorry didn't realize you had company."
He glanced towards me with his 'wow' face and lipped 'he's cute!' but Kian grew suspicious and turned around so Tris closed his mouth, stood up, and stopped looking at me so he didn't make it obvious."Who's this?" Kian pointed to Tris.
"This is------" as I was interrupted by Tristian introducing himself.
"Hi I'm her best friend Tristian, but you can call me Tris, and you are?" He said awfully bubbly I couldn't help but laugh.
"Um I'm Kian, a new friend of Maggie's." Kian kinda giggled at Tris's anxiousness.
"Well your a doll," Tris smiled, "Hit me up if she bores you." he said as a joke to urge my nerves.
"Oh I don't think that could happen she's too interesting." He said toward Tris then turned and winked at me, "Plus I'm straight." He laughed.
"Awh well darn." Tris laughed and walked away.
"Well where were we?" Kian asked un-expectant of an answer.
"I believe you were just about to ask me if you could walk me to class?" I smiled.
Kian replied, "Oh yes, of course. May I?""Well since you asked ever so politely why not?" I smiled and we started walking.
We had like 10 minutes until first period even started so we just kinda walked and talked about our interests and grades and such. Once we realized we had about 2 minutes until class we got to my first period, Mr. Dwyer's, and he dropped me off."See you at lunch." Kian smiled.
"Of course." I replied with an uncontainable smile that I haven't experienced in a long time.
I'm such a child I thought to myself as I sat in my seat.
This time I didn't forget my book so yay no detention. But really I can't even say yay, I should thank Mr. Dwyer, his stupid little yellow slip and unnecessary anger led me to meeting Kian. I haven't felt as depressed being able to look forward to some form of excitement. Having 'male attention' kinda felt different, but a good different. It gave me a fraction of normality. I can't wait to keep getting to know him and take our... wait what do we even have? It's not really a relationship, but it's more than a friendship. Umm well I guess I don't know yet but whatever we do have I can not wait to take it further.
