"Jana, you have a crush on me?"

Damn it! Why did Rosita and Miya have to say that right now?! Why in front of him?! Now how am I supposed to explain myself?!

"N-No! Of course not! Why would you ever think that?" I asked.

"You are stuttering." He points out.

I was about to deny it but I noticed the walk sign came. I bolted as fast as I could to the other side of the road and ran home. I didn't look back even once. As soon as I reached my house, I fumbled with my keychain trying to find the right key for the front door. When I did, I ran downstairs and into my room.

I immediately face planted myself on the bed. I was so embarrassed! How the hell am I supposed to face him in school tomorrow?

Well, I guess I just won't go to school tomorrow then.

Man, I wish I didn't have to go to school. But my mom would actually kill me if I didn't get perfect attendance. My attendance is probably the only thing good about me in school.

Maybe I will just ignore him or something. Or avoid him. Avoiding him sounds less mean and more convenient than ignoring him. So I'll do that.

I need to get my mind off of this. To do that, I can either study or watch something.

Ew studying. Definitely NOT doing that.

Hmm, maybe I could use Ayesha's Netflix account or something.

I exited out of the chat and wanted to do something productive. Wait. I haven't heard from Nikki in a while...

I still didn't change out of my clothes so I just took my phone and headed out. I knew where Nikki lived because I went there once.

I walked along the sidewalk to her house.

"Hey Jana, where are you going?" I heard someone ask.

I looked up and almost screamed.

"Mike?!" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"Oh um I was going to pick up my little sister from after school! I am about to be late! Where are you going?"

"I am going to the store. But hey—" I didn't hear what else he said after that. I ran.

I looked back once and saw him go into the store.

Great. He didn't follow me, fortunately.

I continued to go the way Nikki lives.

As I reached her house, I took a deep breath,
