Forgiving But Not Forgetting

I stayed in Edward's room all day and didn't speak to Harry.
I sat in the chair again, I was just waiting for Harry to text me.
Edward walked in and sat on the couch. "You doing okay?"
I shook my head. I felt like I was dying honestly.
"Not at all." I said.
He sighed and grabbed my hand. "Well, how about this, I'll take you out to lunch and we'll try to get your mind off of all this. If he leaves you because you tried to protect him, then...he's not right for you."
Yeah, okay.
I put on my light blue hoodie, short shorts and chucks. I left my hair down and put on some make up.
I really hope Edward doesn't think this is a date or something, because it's not. We're just friends.

...

Edward and I went to this little restaurant down the street.
We sat there for an hour talking and laughing at stories we shared with eachother. For so long I though Edward wasn't like anyone else, that he had it made differently. He's just a normal guy.

...

When we got back to the hotel, I threw my hoodie down on the chair.
"That was amazing food Edward. Thank you so much for it." I smiled.
He took off his jacket. "No problem. My pleasure."

I sat down in the chair checking my phone.
Nothing from Harry. Did he not miss me? I missed him.
"Still nothing?"
I looked up from my phone and shook my head.
"No." I frowned.
I wanted to cry, why didn't he miss me?
"He's crazy." Edward said getting up from the couch."
"Why?"
"Because, I mean, if he doesn't appreciate you--"
I stopped him there. "Who said that?" I asked.
"I'm just saying. I wouldn't get mad at you. You were protecting him." Edward said.
I really was, I didn't want to hurt him or want this kind of thing happen. I never wanted to lose Harry. Now my worst fear was coming true.

Edward moved closer to me and stroked the side of my face and leaned in and kissed me.
I pulled back really quick. "Edward.." I said covering my mouth.
I couldn't believe that just happened.
"What?" He asked.
I couldn't say anything, I was speechless and not in a good way.
"Why did you do that?" I pushed the words out.
"Didn't you want to?"
Did he get that vibe from me or something?
"No.."
His face went twisted a bit and then he broke down in apologies. I finally knew what Edward was up to.
He wanted Harry out of the picture and so far, his plan was already set in motion. I had stopped it before it went any further. I felt stupid. Harry knew, too. This is why he didn't want us to come.

"I have to go." I said turning towards the door.
Edward grabbed my hand. "No, no. Please. Okay. I'm sorry. I always do this! Why do I always do this?!"
He was getting angry fast. "I'M SO STUPID!!!"
He started hitting himself and going insane. He was scaring me, I've never seen anyone like this before.
"Edward, stop!" I knew that no one had ever seen Edward like this. On the outside, we was perfect, but on the inside, he was messed up.

He continued to hitting himself on the head and face.
"Edward, stop!" I said once again, I grabbed his hands to stop them from hitting him.
"Okay..." Edward calmed down a bit.
"It's okay, I'm not going anywhere." I said. "So why don't you just go change, and we can go?" I tried to hide my fear. I didn't want him to see that he was scaring me.
"I'm so sorry." He said calmly.
"It's ok." Edward turned and walked back to his bedroom.
I took out my phone once he was gone and dialed Harry's number.
I know I'm probably the one person he doesn't want to talk to right now, but I was scared and I needed him.

"Hello?" I felt relived when I heard his raspy voice.
"Harry, it's me."
He must of heard how scared I was.
"What's going on? Where are you?"
"I'm in Edward's room. I can't really talk right now. It's Edward, he's...you were right, I should of listened to you. And now he won't let me leave." I stared to become hysterical.
"HANG UP!" I heard Edward's voice call out.
I turned around and noticed he had a gun in his hand as he moved towards me. "Hang up the phone, please?"
I took the phone away from my ear as I still stared at the gun in Edward's hand.
"Give me the phone." He said.
"What are you doing?" I asked him.
Now I feared him and I couldn't help but show it.
"Please, give me the phone."
I handed him the phone as I still stared at the weapon, I didn't know what to do.
Edward put the phone to his ear. "Bye, Harry." He said and hung up.

...

"I'm sorry, I am so sorry." Edward said pacing back and forth. "I just heard you one the phone, and I didn't know what to do."
I sat on the couch crying.
"That's okay. So why don't you put the gun down and we can talk about it." I said. I was just trying to make it out of this alive.
"No." Edward shook his head. "You'll leave again."
"Edward, I have to go sometime."
"What? To him?" Edward raised his voice and tears were already streaming down his face. "To him, right? What about me, huh?"
I didn't know what to say. I couldn't believe that any of this was actually happening.
"You and I are friends. We will always be friends." I found myself saying.
"Friends?! Friends, Reneè?! I'm in love with you!"
We both started to cry harder.
"How could you not know that? I've always been. You're the one who gets me. The only one who gets me. "You're the only thing in my life that I love." He said sobbing.
"Then why would you want to hurt me?" I blurted out.
Edward looked down at the gun in his hand and then back up at me. "I don't. I would never. This isn't for you. It's for me. Because if you leave, I'll have nothing else to live for. So you have to promise me you will not leave."

The hotel phone started to ring but he didn't answer it.

A few moments later there was a knock.
"Mr. Stilies, you there?" Edward looked at the door, then at me when I stood up. "Uh.." Is all Edward could say, he couldn't make anything up fast enough.
"We're coming in." The man said.
I was hoping Harry was with them.
"No, no. That's okay. I just got out of the shower."
I grabbed his arm. "Edward, let them in, please."
"Shh..." Edward shushed me.
I didn't know if I was going to make it out alive or not.

"Reneè?" I heard Harry call out my name. I wanted to say something, but Edward still shushed me.
"RENEÈ!" He yelled.
Edward silenced me and reminded me he had a gun.

"Harry, he's got a gun!" I blurted out.
"Why did you do that?!" Edward yelled.
"I'm sorry, please just put the gun away and let them in." I pleaded him.
Just then the door busted open and security and Harry stood. "Put the gun away!" One man said.
"Or what? You gonna shoot me?" Edward put the gun to his head. "Let me save you the trouble." Edward looked over at me. I was sacred even more.
"I'm sorry." He said.
"Edward, put the gun down, man." Harry said.
"Why? I'm doing you a favor." Edward sobbed.
"Why would you do that? You hate me."

Edward looked down and cried.

"That's right, you do this you won't hurt me, you'll hurt Reneè, the one person who looks up to you the most. I know you don't want to do that." Harry was trying to convince him, but it wasn't working. "Put the gun down, man."

"You don't know anything about me, man." Edward said through gritted teeth.

Harry shook his head. "I know what's like to be the center of attention and yet, feel so alone."
I looked over at Harry. I never knew he felt that way.
"But you put the gun down, you get a second chance at this."

Harry convinced him into putting the gun down. And when he did, the men took him out of the hotel.

I ran into Harry's arms. "I'm sorry!" I said over and over again.
He wrapped his arms around me. "It's alright." He said. "It's okay."

I knew this is where I felt safe. I finally knew it.
