Jessica was a friend of mine, she was the bubbly loud girl in the group...she always had a wide smile and even after her parents died on a car crash together with her little sister, she is said to had never vented on anyone but her smile became wider than usually and she started talking less before dropping out of Varsity.

I remember the first day I met Jessica, it was one winter morning, I was around 5years old and mom had just gave me a hot bowl of soup to warm up my insides as we laid our cold feet near the heater to feel the warmth...

I had no friends around my neighborhood so I loved gazing outside the window at other children laughing and playing around the street, I was a shy kid that only spoke if spoken to, but that winter day I saw no children playing outside but Jessica, I asked mom "why is she playing in the cold alone?"

Mom looked at me with a smile and brushed against my hair using her palm and said "I don't know, maybe her parents aren't around". Jessica looked up by my window and waved at me, I smiled at her and waved back as quick as I can In disbelief,

I was so amazed when she waved, I was young then but I remember asking myself "is this the day I make a friend?", mom's phone rang and she rushed to pick it up because it was on the other room, dad had promised to call every morning as he was away on a business trip, my dad is a CEO of some I.T company, he's very good with technology and he had to go outside town to seal a deal as far as I remember what I was told by

mom,

At that split second mom moved to the other room I sneaked outside...maybe that was my last chance of making a friend.

As I ran out the door and left it open Jessica saw me and ran towards me and asked for my name "hey, I've never seen you playing outside before...What's your name?"

I was overwhelmed by her and I responded "my name is Elizabeth, but my mom call me Lizzy and if you were to be my friend, I would love for you to call me Lizzy too" Jessica responded with a small laughter "my grandmother was Elizabeth, I will call you Lizzy and be your friend since my grandma would've loved that, I'm playing with my doll and her name is Mona I found her in my basement, mom says she will buy me new toys so I wouldn't have to play with old ones but I love Mona...she once confiscated her so I just stole her and ran to play with her outside but it's cold" I was amazed to see a child who was only a year older than me talk so much, at that time I heard my mom hollering my name as she stood by our doorstep "Lizzy, it's cold outside come inside you're not even wearing shoes"

I said my goodbyes to Jessica and we went separate ways, every afternoon when mom was not around so as dad, the nanny would fetch me from kindergarten and Jessica would come by to play with me everyday until I went to school by the age of 8years and Jessica was 9years old at the time...she was like an older sister to me, she was a grade higher than me like our ages are.

She would come with her friends during lunchtime to me so I could meet them and play together, she wasn't an introvert like me but she was an extrovert, when she finished primary school I had to stay for a year eating lunch at school alone until I went to secondary school, I had no struggle choosing a school as I joined Chealen secondary school where Jessica was also attending.

Jessica had a smaller sister when she was 16years old, she was 9months old and that made her mom work from home and I would go with her to her house every after school to play with her little sister, it was no big deal because she only lived 2 blocks away from my house. 2 years passed and Jessica was admitted into a higher institution of learning; University of Louisiana at Lafayette to study under computer studies faculty...I was happy for her but at the same time scared of losing her, after her first semester there she was set to come back home to visit, we lived in a small town in up state New York at a neighborhood called "Binghampton" and her family was to fetch her from the airport when they got hit by a drunk driver and all died in the scene of the accident, after that she wasn't the bubbly girl I used to know and I think she was hiding behind the smile she always displayed.

She continued learning until she dropped out after 2 years of learning due to financial problems, her parents used to take care of her accommodation and study bills, her family house was taken by her uncle who had no place to stay and she continued to live in Lafayette, Louisiana where she rented an apartment.

She told me she had found a job but hadn't specified, I thought it might be a high paying job due to the jewellery and fancy clothes she would wear when visiting, she would normally stay for a day and go back until the night she invited me to a bar for a few drinks...at that time I was a Varsity student at Binghamton University because mom insisted it was closer and safer.
