Stay there, alright?
I'm gonna come get
you"Wes, where are you going?" Kurt asked him.
He shook his head. "I need to go get Thad."
Okay
His heart beat faster at the one-word response. Thad didn't even put up a fight like he usually did.
"It's bad," he mumbled. "It's really, really bad."
"Well, I'm coming with you," Kurt said, following him out.
"You don't need to," Wes said. "I'll be fine."
"And if you run into David?"
That shut him up, and he let Kurt come with him.
"He says he's by Dalton's front doors."
"And you told him to stay there?"
"Yeah. I hope he listens."
"Do you know what happened?"
He glanced back at his phone, but Thad hadn't said anything else. "No. He just... What he said was really worrying."
"Scale of 1-to-10?"
"Nine," he answered softly.
Kurt's speed doubled, as did his own. He needed to get there before something bad happened.
But when he got there, Thad was on his phone, sitting against the wall. He looked up at him. "Hey."
Wes sat down beside him, worried out of his mind. "What happened?"
"What?"
"You texted me 'I can't do this?' No context? No elaboration?"
"Oh!" His eyes widened. "Fuck. No, that's not what I meant. I just meant this whole thing with Nick."
Wes sighed, leaning against his shoulder. "Never scare me like that again. And what do you mean, you can't do the whole thing with him?"
"He got so scared, he shut down. All I can see is him in front of the Dean, verging on a panic attack because of what he's asking. I can't be responsible for that."
He shook his head. "We need to do something, though. I'm not giving up, not after all we've done."
"What happened?" Thad asked, hearing the resentment in Wes's voice.
"David's mad at me. And he should be. I was supposed to meet him at lunch, but I completely forgot until I got in a fight with Sebastian and he mentioned him and it was the last straw, because one minute I'm interested and flirting with him, and the next I've forgotten about him and he said he just needed space and told me to leave and he– he's right, I'm awful–"
"Wes, you have never once in your life forgotten about that boy. You are always thinking about him. Hell, you texted me in the middle of the night during the summer, asking what I thought he was doing."
Wes chuckled half-heartedly. "You said 'sleeping, like you should be, dipshit.'"
"And yes, you have terrible time management skills, I'm stunned you're a good student, but it's not because you don't care. You need to explain that, and work on keeping a schedule. You would forget to eat if the bells didn't ring. Like today, I doubt you had lunch, because we were talking to the Dean."
"Aw, fuck, I didn't," he said. "But, um, I get your point. But it's kinda late to explain."
"It's never too late. I mean, you just argued, so you might want to wait, or to do it quickly... I don't know. I'm not good with relationships. I'd probably do it quickly before I lost my nerve."
"May I?"
They both looked up, seeing Kurt.
Normally, it was Wes's first instinct to say No, fuck you and your opinion, but that wasn't where his mind went. "Yeah, go ahead."
"If he told you he needed space, I'd wait. David's a sweet guy, when he's ready, he's probably going to approach you about it. But that's just me."
Wes nodded, thinking it over. He was really anxious to apologize, to explain, but Kurt did have a point. So did Thad.
God, what was he supposed to do?
