No one's pov
The sky was very dark that evening, lightning flashing over the buildings. Abe was in the kitchen and looked out the window with a slight frown. The poor weather was never a good sign in her opinion.
She finished making the cups of hot chocolate and took them out to the 4 teens and 2 cats that sat in her living room.
"Here. You should drink these. They'll help warm you up" she mumbled to them, putting the tray of drinks down in front of the drenched boys.
"We got caught out in the rain" Sting complained, puffing out hiis cheeks as he pulled the towel on his shoulders around him tighter.
Abe sighed. "I'm going to see if Ivy and Nightshade want anything" she explained before walking up the stairs.
"Hey Jellal, Ivy, Nightshade. You guys want anything?" she asked, pushing open the bedroom door only to freeze in place.
Her window was wide open, rhhe curtains fluttering about as rain splashed onto the carpet. Both Ivy and Nightshade, who were in their exceed forms lay on the ground, slightly bruised.
Nightshade looked up, ears bent down. "Sorry Abe. He took us by surprise" the Exceed apologised.
"Stay here" she ordered before running down the stairs. "Abe?" Rufus asked, turning to look at the older blond. "I'll be back. The four of you don't go anywhere" she ordered, throwing on a coat and running over to the door.
"But Abe-" Rufus objected but his protest fell on deaf ears since his older sister was out of the house before she could hear him, the door slamming behind her.
When outside, the coat did very little to shield Abe from the pelting rain. She looked around the back of the house, trying to see in the limited light that was provided by the lightning that flashed every so often.
She found tracks in the muddy ground and followed them to the nearby forest. "Where the hell are you?!" She yelled, searching the forest.
"Looking for me?" someone asked, walking over. Abe turned, expecting to see the blue haired criminal but instead saw someone else.
She quickly formed a sword with her magic, taking a defensive stance. "I know you. You took out a bunch of my buddies a couple weeks ago. You'll pay for that" he snarled.
He ran at her, relying on only his strength alone. Abe sliced at him which he jumped back from.
He growled ready to attack again when his eyes landed on something just a few feet behind her. Abe turned around and her eyes widened.
"Rufus! Get out of here!" she yelled, turning back to the guy in front of her. He took advantage of that single distraction and slammed his fist into the side of her head, sending her tumbling across the muddy ground. She might be a skilled fighter but this guy had the upper hand when it came to strength.
Abe tried to scramble to her but because of the mud on the ground, she couldn't quite gett a proper hold and kept slipping in the mud, staining her clothes, skin and hair with mud.
The guy walked over, a smirk on his face. He grabbed her head and slammed it into a tree so hard that the wood splintered. Abe's body went limp and she collapsed into the mud.

Abe's pov
I snapped my eyes open and pushed myself up, my head pounding as if trying to break my skull.
I looked around, trying to find Rufus but I didn't see him. I shakily pushed myself to my feet.
"Rufus?!" I yelled, looking around the endless sea of trees. "Rufus!" I yelled again, getting worried now. He always answered when I called him.
I tried to run in the direction I'd last saw him but pain filled my leg when I tried. "Rufus! Answer me!" I yelled, becoming more desperate for an answer.
I limped over to where I'd seen him. Mud was kicked up. Someone had been running. 'Oh please let him have gotten to safety' I prayed, limping in the direction of where both Rufus and I had come from.
Any hope I had fell when I found the his crimson hat laying in the mud. I collapsed in front of it, grasping the old hat in my hands which were shaking now.
"No. No. No" I muttered, looking around for any sign that he was OK. He had to be. Everything inside me was immediately crushed when my eyes tested on a single tree. Stained in blood and splintered from the force of someone hitting it. The mud tracks around the tree were spread about, kicked up, leaving imprints the size of a slim teen's body as if they had been slammed into the ground repeatedly.
My entire body froze. Rufus was gone. He'd been brutally killed by someone twice his size and probably double if not triple his age and I was too weak to do anything about it. I had been knocked out. Not being able to hear my own brother's pained pleas and cries, probably begging for help.
I slammed my hand into the mud. "Curse you. Curse you Fernández. Next time I see you. I won't spare you. I'll have you killed and bring your corpse to the council you bastard" I snarled, hot tears spilling like waterfalls as I grit my teeth.
I had helped him. Healed him and he had the audacity to be a direct cause of Rufus' death. The bastard.
I ran my fingers over the rim of the hat, my anger cooling as grief overtook me. I bent my head into the hat and sobbed hard, straining my throat after a few strangled sobs.
