Chapter 9: Hyotei

Guys! My some of my yearly results came out and I was pretty impressed and proud of myself since I got better than I expected. School is now boring since we don't need to prepare for test anymore, my brain is becoming very lazy will not work when I need it.

Tanaka Yuki POV

*one week later*

Today is the day when we are going to VS Hyotei to a practice match, all regulars must attend which means that I can skip school. I went to school, as usual, taking the train and walking to school until I saw an enormous, polished and luxurious bus was waiting outside our school, even though Rikkaidai is a private school. I thought that the bus was way too pricey for us to hire or even rent, I went into the tennis courts and saw the regulars already there waiting for me except for Kirihara. That guy has a terrible habit of tardy, Jackal attempted to call him but he wasn't picking up his calls.

It was nearly time to depart, Yukimura told me to board the bus since there was no point standing here and waiting for Kirihara. I was amazed at the charm and elegance of the bus, it had leather couches, delicate cushion on seats, exclusive television, a big and clean toilet. It might be the dream bus of every ordinary people but I never said I was an ordinary kid, I had been on these kinds of buses before. When I was in Australia and was attending the first major of the Grand Slam (Australia Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open), I would usually take those buses to get to my destination. We waited for Kirihara for over ten minutes and were going to be delayed if he doesn't come soon, Sanada vowed to punish him harshly if we were late for the practice match. Finally, Kirihara turned up and he was 15 minutes late. Fortunately, we were still on time even though Kirihara delayed our plan.

When I got off the bus, I saw a grand school standing in front of me which looked like a castle. I recalled that Yukimura said the Hyotei is a private school were the children from the richest people in Japan are assembled, he also told me that there was a king in the school called Keigo Atobe Yukimura said that Atobe's family owns the school so he acts like he's the king, all girls and most boys idolise him. Keigo? Isn't the Keigo company, one of the most powerful companies in the world? That's why that bastard acts all high and mighty just because he's from a powerful background, I hate those types of guys. We entered the school with a powerful presence, everyone around as either ran away or stay completely still. I decided to break the awkward silence by politely asking a student where the tennis courts are, she was too afraid to speak so she pointed out the directions. We followed the directions and it eventually lead us to the tennis courts but there was one problem, why are there so many people crowding in that area. I can barely make out what they were screaming, but I was pretty sure it was the detestable name called Atobe.

There were so many people that I couldn't see what Atobe looks like, then, someone clicked their fingers and silence came immediately. From my logic, the clicked could have been possibly executed by Atobe. As Atobe walked his way to us, the students avoided him as if he was as deadly diseases.  He walked towards us, but he doesn't look like he was greeting Yukimura but instead me. "Hello Tanaka Yuki, my name is Keigo Atobe. I have heard a lot about your achievements and honours, it was said that you are the four times champion of the Junior Grand Slam. It's such an honour for us to versus you today." he said while acting like a gentleman. The rest of the group was in awe, not believing that I won the Junior Grand Slam four times. Yukimura was grinning sadistically, while Kirihara, Marui, Jackal where making gawking faces. The practice match was already organized, I versus Jiro, Sanada versus Atobe, Kirihara versus Yushi, Marui and Jackal versus Gakuto and Wakashi, Nio and Yagyu versus Ryo and Shotaro. Yukimura and Yanagi weren't playing since Yukimura wanted to watch and supervise us while Yanagi wanted to collect data on the opponents. I was playing singles 3, Sanda was playing singles 2 and Kirihara was playing singles 1. Marui and Jackal were playing doubles 2 and Nio and Nagyu was playing doubles 1. The doubles matches were up first which means that my match with Jiro will be last. Since there was a long time until my match, I decided to wander around the school to try to find something interesting to do.

Walking around the large campus was a big workout, it took me at least 30 minutes to reach the other side of the school. On the way back to the tennis courts, I saw a dormant guy with messy blonde hair and brown eyes. He had a tennis racquet lying next to him, indicating that he must be a tennis player. I decided to wake him up in case he was one of our opponents, there won't be a point to play this practice match with Hyotei if their players aren't here. "Excuse me, sorry to disturb you. My name is Tanaka Yuki. I was wondering if you are one of the regulars at Hyotei, if you are, you might want to get up soon so you won't be late for your game." I said politely, trying not to wake him up on the wrong side of the bed. " Hmmm... Wait... What? YOU'RE TANAKA YUKI! I am Jiro, your opponent in the practice match." he said while looking practically half awake.

I suggested that we walk to the tennis courts together since we were going to versus each other anyways, he told me that he was going to sleep after we get there since it was one of his habits. I asked him if he ever missed a match due to sleeping and he answered that Atobe always tells Kabaji to wake me up just before the match so he doesn't miss it. Jiro also told her that the school named him *sleeping beauty* due to the amount of time he spends sleeping in a day. Even though I want to underestimate my opponent, I knew that my arrogance can cause a loss of my team which will go against the school morale. Losing in unforgivable, even if it is an unofficial match. "Marui and Jackal senpai are finishing their match right now, do you want to come and watch with me?" I ask him. "Ya, I won't sleep if you are with me which means I can watch the match properly. I can also watch my idol, Marui," he said in a child-like tone. Marui is his idol? Well, that's news to me.

As we got near the tennis courts, everyone started staring at us, wondering why two people from separate schools that are versing each other walking together. I just gave them a cold glare which scared them away, Jiro kept chatting about how remarkable Atobe is which slightly irritated me since I didn't like Atobe. He told me that he always gets into trouble by his seniors in the tennis club because of his severe habit of sleeping, Atobe, Oshitari and Mukahi sought to find a solution to keep him away from sleeping but it failed miserably. Jiro also told me that he versed Marui in a friendly match before but lost badly which is why he idolises him. "Marui, Jackal. Even though you guys won the match, your movements are still terrible. You guys will need to improve in that area after we get back." I heard Yukimura shouting in a distance not far away. It wasn't surprising to me that we won since we are the national champions. When we finally got to Marui and Jackal's court, the match was already finished. Marui and Jackal were packing up near Yukimura and was getting ready to go and spectate the next doubles match which is Nio and Yagyu versus Ryo and Chotaro. I greeted my senpais and ask them for the final score of the match, they told me that it was 6-2. Jiro didn't look surprised since he knew that his idol, Marui was an outstanding volleyer. Jiro decided to go to sleep since he was exhausted and depressed that he missed his idol playing in a match, I decided to leave him alone to give him some peace.

I was bored out of my mind so I was determined to go to the other tennis courts to find some people to play with, I was wandering around the tennis courts until I noticed a group of girls and boys practising tennis and decided to make them my target to cure my boredom.
