Chapter 4: First Battle, Mirra vs. Axel

-Riku's POV-
Wow. Yesterday was amazing... I met a beautiful girl with a heart of gold, and I got to talk to her all day after school. Mirra told me that she lives in a world called Alterasia, which is covered by lush forests. Despite this, the people still managed to create a metropolis entangled within the vegetation, and even have advanced technology such as teleportation devices and weaponry. Her uncle is the King of their people, which makes her the Queen. She explained that her parents died when she was very little, making her the successor at 4. Her uncle, who was the commander of the Royal Army, took in and became the ruler until she was old enough. Surprisingly, as Queen, she was given the right to resume a normal life, and her uncle took up all the royal work. That helped a lot. If it wasn't for her uncle, then I would have never met her... I'm so grateful... But, I decided to not tell her how I feel. It's too early. I can't just tell her "I like you a lot, will you be my girlfriend?" right of the bat like that. Aqua told me that you have to spend time with her before you confess. That's a general rule, no, common sense. I obviously know that. I'll wait until the time is right. Weapon-Training class came around, and we sat next to each other. I look at the tournament board. Today is Wednesday, so it's just simple one-on-one battles. Master Eraqus, via a P.A. system, delivers the first round.
"Alright, students. Today is a one-on-one day. The first battle of this tournament is Axel versus Mirella!" I couldn't believe it.. Axel and Mirra were gonna battle each other. Axel, please don't pulverize her...

-Mirra's POV-
My first battle was against a boy named Axel. I went down to the battlefield, he was simply leaning on the walls of the arena.
"Hey, cutie-pie~! Just because you're a newbie doesn't mean I'm gonna go easy on you!" He summons his chakrams and prepares a battle stance. Sadly, I don't have a weapon. My uncle taught me pure magic and martial arts. It's the only form of combat I've memorized.
"Alright, I'm a little bit nervous, but I'll do my best."
"That's the spirit!" He charges straight at me. I can see the walls become engulfed in flames. As he was inches away from me, an explosion was set off...

-Riku's POV-
"Where did that come from?!" Everyone was asking the same questions about the mysterious explosion. Axel obviously got hit, but surprisingly, Mirra was still standing there. Maybe this was her power? To set off hidden explosives?
"Heh! It was you, wasn't it? That bomb was yours?"
"You caught me. It's called Territory. It's a form of Gravity magic that my uncle taught me. Everything within my line of sight can be a potential detonation..." She rushes straight at him, and I could see her hands cloaked in the same material as the explosion from before.
"Well, now. You're cute, and deadly! My type of girl!" Axel rushes head on to her as well, and the two of them engage in heated close-quarters combat. Everytime his chakrams touch her hands, sparks fly everywhere. The crowd is roaring, cheering on the both of them. I couldn't help but cheer on for her as well. She has so much battling potential...

-Roxas' POV-
I've known Axel for a long time, and all I can say is he could be evenly matched against that girl. We all know about Axel's pyrokinetics, and how he's the "crash and burn" type of guy, but if you make bombs and explode them in the midst of his flames, you might as well have fireworks. This the first time in a while I've seen him having a good time and going all out in a battle.
"Yeah! BURN BABY!" His flames try to engulf the new girl, but she countered with a barrier. I forgot to mention one thing. On one-on-one days, there is a five-minute timer. I look at the clock.

Wow, I thought, Axel only has less than 4 minutes to beat her... If he can, of course.

-Axel's POV-
Damn, this girl ain't giving up! She's starting to get a little too fast for my taste. And she was able to use a Reaction Command on her first try. I take a quick glance at the clock...

I only have 2 minutes to beat her, or else I'm done for. She tried to do a sneak attack on me, but I'm no idiot to fall for that. As soon as I sensed her behind me, I slash at her a few times. She and I have taken a good amount of damage, and it will only be a matter of time until one of us is down.
"Alright, beautiful! Time to end this!" I charge up my flames one last time.. This is it! The Limit Break!

-Mirra's POV-
His chakrams, cloaked in flame, were launched directly at me. I blocked it the best I could, but my barriers were no match for him. Luckily, the barrier exploded, and it countered his fire... The area was covered in smoke, and all I could make out was his figure the ground...

"Time! This battle is deemed a tie, for both sides are unable to continue." Before I blacked out, I saw beautiful leaves and flowers rain from the sky. All at once, my fatigue seemed to disappear, and it felt very good.. I could just relax for days...
