Chapter 14: Riku and Mirra vs. The Senex

-Riku's POV-
"Did you hear that voice?!" I slash at a few monsters while asking Mirra.
"I thought I was the only one! So these things are called the 'Senex', but what is their purpose?!"
"I don't know, but it's anything but good! For now, let's kill these things and meet with the others!" Mirra nods and slashes at several more. I send a Dark Firagra, and it seems to do the trick. "Mirra, use magic! The armor is weak to magical properties!" She obeys me and casts a series of Thunder and Blizzard spells. I though she was making frozen fireworks for a second. But, it cleared away most of them. With that, I defeat the remaining monsters.
"Alright, now let's go find Sora!"
"Right!" We head to the main land, but more monsters block our path.
"Damnit! How many more can show up?!" We had no choice but to continue fighting. However strong these things may be, I know for a fact that the good will always prevail! After clearing the second wave, I noticed Mirra took more injuries than I did.
"Mirra, you okay??"
"Don't worry about me. Let's keep going, okay?"
"No." My voice was solid, and she was taken by surprise. "I'm not letting you injure yourself. You have to keep going. I'll take care of things from here." Hearing that, she grabbed me by the shoulders and responded: "I'm not leaving you behind, damnit! I don't want you to end up worst than me! I told you: let's fight as a couple! That's what we are, correct?"
"Y-yeah, but your injuries..."
"Riku. I have fought worst battles than this. These injuries are nothing compared to what I have experienced in the past. I once suffered two concussions, a broken neck, and heavy bleeding. And all of that happened in one week! I don't want to leave you behind, no matter the enemy." She lets go of my shoulders. "Now, are we going to keep fighting each other, or are we going to fight the cause of this malovent weather?"
Her words...and the past she lived through... She's strong, I can tell. I decided to believe her.
"Well?"
"Let's do it!" I charge ahead, where the third wave of monsters were waiting. She charges alongside me, and we storm the area with combined Dark Firagras. Fighting with Mirra... It empowered me. I feel stronger alongside her... Maybe this is what it felt like to fight with someone you can truly care for. Not as a friend, but as a lover. She looked as powered up as I was. With our combined efforts, we cleared the third wave of monsters. I dropped to my knees, feeling weak..
"Are you okay?!" Mirra kneels beside me.
"I can't say I am... Ha ha... Ow...."
"Here. This might help." She pulls me in and kisses me. Immediately, I can feel all the pain and fatigue fade away. When she pulled back, I saw that all my injuries gone. Her injuries faded away too.
"How?! What?! Why?! What was THAT???"
"I...gave you the Kiss of Life?" Her smile gave off a nervous feel. I knew she was lying, so I just stared into her eyes dead on.
"Okay, okay," she remarks after a couple of staredowns later. "It's called Extreme Heavenly Love. Uncle Darius told me to use it only when you find that soulmate of yours."
"I see... So, let me get this straight. When we kiss, angels from heaven or whatever come down and heal us?"
"No. The firmament sends a holy light to restore us of our pain. It will only come to those who share a bond with their loved ones."
"Uh... Okay, then? Anyway, the Senex or whatever they call themselves are gone for the time being. Do you know anything about them?"
"Hardly. But, my uncle could know something. Let's reunite with the others, then go to Alterasia."
"Right!" It was only a matter of time before we meet up with Sora and company. I explained to them the plan, and soon, the mission was at go. I had to find out sooner or later about the Senex. I fear for the worst..
