Before I knew it, the weekend had come around so fast and Noah and I were standing in the city airport, waiting for his mum and dad to arrive.

I was quite nervous for Matthew and Samantha to arrive. They hadn't exactly behaved nicely at our wedding until I put them in their place. I did feel sorry for them though after losing their 14-year old daughter, Noah's sister Sophie, to sepsis nearly three years ago.

Noah grasped my hand tightly; I could tell he was nervous too. I squeezed his hand back reassuringly and flashed him a smile before we saw his mum and dad come out of the gate. Noah's mum, Samantha, gave us an eager wave and rushed over to us. She launched herself into Noah's arms, much to his surprise, "Noah, sweetie, I've missed you." she breathed into his ear.

She released him and turned to me, embracing me into a huge hug too, "Hallie. You look stunning as usual. How have you been?" she asked me, while Matthew caught up to us and shook his son's hand.

"Apart from the fire, everythin' has been great." I replied, giving her a soft kiss on her cheek.

"Oh, Noah had told us about that. I was so sorry to hear but I'm glad Gracie and David are ok."

"All thanks to Noah." I muttered as Matthew greeted me with a kiss on the cheek.

Samantha's eyes went from me to Noah in bewilderment. I glanced at Noah too and one look at his face told me that he hadn't told his mum that he had been the one to rescue Mama and David.

"What's this?" Samantha asked, as we walked towards Noah's truck.

"Noah ran into the house to save them." I instantly filled her in.

Samantha stopped dead at the airport entrance and whipped around to face Noah, "You did what? Didn't I raise you to not put yourself in dangerous positions?!" She snapped at him.

"You know I love Gracie and I am fond of David. I wanted to help." Noah defended himself.

"No, you wait for professionals to arrive!"

"Come on, let's get to the truck." I softly grabbed her elbow.

We were forming quite a queue behind us. We got to the truck and she shook her head at Noah, "I can't believe you risked your life like that after..."

"Sam, honey." Matthew cut in.

"What's the big deal?" Noah muttered. "I'm fine."

"What's the big deal? We have already lost one child! Do you think we wanted to lose our other one?" Samantha argued and Noah recoiled.

"I'm sorry, mum, I didn't think." Noah hung his head in shame.

"Not to mention leaving your beautiful wife behind."

"Samantha, that's enough now. I don't think he will do it again." Matthew ordered softly.

We climbed into the truck and the drive back to our house was a little uncomfortable. I realised that Matthew had called Samantha honey when he tried to cut into the conversation. I take it their coffee date went very well.

We were all relaxing in the living-room with a cup of tea and slice of my Mama's cherry pie. Her and David had moved back into David's home the day before and it felt quiet again. We ate in a comfortable silence until Matthew cleared his throat. I put my cup down and turned to him. I think I had already guessed what was coming next.

"So, your mother and I have some news." He started.

Noah looked from his dad to his mum and back again, raising his eyebrows slightly but staying silent for Matthew to continue.
