Mary's POV
I hated these hunts where I don't get any sleep, apparently there is a hunt with two ghosts who haunt a road for one night. Ricky was keeping me awake by making me listen to rock music to keep me awake. "Dean we're in the middle of nowhere." Kara said. "I know but this is the road you have to drive." Dean said. "Stop!" A lady yelled in the middle of the road Dean slammed on the road. "Holy-!" Dean yelled in shock stopping it. "You've got to help me." The lady said coming to the passenger side. Sam rolled down the window. "Please. Please!" She pleaded. "All right, all right. Calm down, calm down. Tell us what happened." Sam said. We were now outside the impala me still leaning on the car tired and Ricky was keeping me awake. "I-I swerved, a-And we crashed. And when I came to, the car was wrecked and my husband was missing. I went looking for him, but that's when the man from the road, he... he started chasing me." The lady said. "Did he look like he lost a fight with a lawn mower?" Dean asked. "Or a very pissed off Pitbull?" Ricky and I said in unison. "How did you know that?" The lady asked. "Lucky guess." Dean, Ricky, and I said in unison shrugging smiling. "Ma'am, what's your name?" Kara asked ignoring what Dean, Ricky, and I said. "Molly. Molly Mcnamara." Molly said. My siblings, my friends, and I all shared a look knowing this girl is a ghost. "I think maybe you should come with us. We'll take you back into town." Sam said. "I can't. I have to find David. He might have gone back to the car." Molly said, okay she doesn't know she's dead. "We should get you somewhere safe first. Then Dean, Mae, Kara, Ricky, and I will come back. We'll look for your husband." Sam said. "No. I'm not leaving here without him. Would you just take me back to my car, please?" Molly said. "Of course. Come on." Kara said. This led to Kara being in the middle upfront, Ricky and I being in the backseat with Molly. Molly got us to the crash site and we saw nothing. "I don't understand. I'm sure this is where it was. W-We hit that tree right there. This... this doesn't make any sense." Molly said and went out of earshot. "Guys, we got to get out of here. Greeley could show up at any second." Ricky said. "What are you gonna tell her?" Dean asked. "The truth?" Kara and I suggested. "She's gonna take off running in the other direction." Dean said. "I know it sounds crazy, but I crashed into that tree. I don't know who could've taken it. It was totaled. Please. You have to believe me." Molly said coming back to us. "Molly, listen, we do believe you. But that's why we want to get you out of here." Kara said. "What about David? Something must have happened. I have to get to the cops." Molly said. "Cops... that's a great idea. We'll take you down to the station ourselves. So just come with us. It's the best way we can help you and your husband." Sam said. "Okay." Molly said. We got back in the car and we're driving. "We're supposed to be in lake Tahoe." Molly said. "You and David?" I asked. "It's our five-year anniversary." Molly said. "A hell of an anniversary." Ricky said. "Right before, we were having the dumbest fight. It was the only time we ever really argued... when we were stuck in the car." Molly said, oh I know how that is one time Sam and I almost got into a fist fight in the backseat, it was also the time I used a swear word in the right context. I smiled remembering that.
Flashback
I was drawing and I felt a spitball I turned and saw Sam. "Sammy don't do that." I said. "What this?" He asked spitting another one at me. "Yes don't do that." I said. "Everything going okay back there?" Dad asked. "No Sammy is being a Douche bag." I said. "How do you know that word?" Dean asked turning around. "You and daddy saying it." I said. "Told you she was a parrot." Sam said and I punched his shoulder he looked ready to hit me. "No hitting each other." Dad said sternly we sat at opposite ends of the impala.
End of flashback
"Yeah. I know how that goes." Sam and I said in unison probably remembering that time. "You know the last thing I said to him? I called him a jerk. Oh, god. What if that's the last thing I said to him?" Molly said. "Better then what I call my brothers." I said. "Molly, we're gonna figure out what happened to your husband. I promise." Kara said. Suddenly the radio turns on. "Did either of you guys turn that on?" I asked. "No." The three people sitting upfront said. "I was afraid you'd guys say that." Ricky said. "This song...." Molly said. "What?" Dean asked Molly. "It was playing when we crashed." Molly said. "She's mine. She's mine. She's mine." A creepy voice said through the radio. "What is that?" Molly asked. Greeley appeared on the road. Dean presses on the gas. "Hold on." He said Ricky grabbed me and I also hugged him. "What are you doing?" Molly asked with fear. Dean drives straight through Greeley who disappeared in smoke. "What the... What the hell just happened?" Molly asked. "Don't worry, Molly. Everything's gonna be all right." Sam said and then the impala shuddered. "Spoke a little too soon, Sammy." I said as the impala stopped at the side of a road. "I don't think he's gonna let her leave guys." Ricky and Dean both said. We all got out of car as Molly was freaking out. "This can't be happening." Molly said. "Well... Trust me. It's happening." Kara said. "Well... Okay. Thanks for helping, but I think I got it covered from here." Molly said. "Wait. Molly, Molly, wait a minute." Ricky said. "Just leave me alone." Molly said. "No no no. Please. You have to listen to us." I said. "Just stay away." Molly said turning around to leave. "It wasn't a coincidence that we found you, all right?" Sam said and Molly turned around. "What are you talking about?" Molly asked. "We weren't just cruising for chicks when we ran into you, sister. We were already out here. Hunting." Dean said. "Hunting for what?" Molly asked. "Ghosts." I said bluntly. "Don't sugarcoat it for her." Kara said kinda shocked I just stayed it. "You're nuts." Molly said. "Really? About as nuts as a vanishing guy with his guts spilling out. You know what you saw." Dean said. "We think his name is Jonah Greeley. He was a local farmer that died 15 years ago on this highway." Sam said. "Just ... stop." Molly said. "One night a year, on the anniversary of his death, he haunts this road. That's why we're here, Molly. To try and stop him." Kara said. "Now, I suppose this ... ghost made my car disappear, too." Molly said. "Crazier things have happened, huh?" Ricky asked. "You know what? I'm all filled up on crazy. I'm gonna get the cops myself." Molly said. "I don't mean to be harsh, but I don't think you're gonna get too far." I said. "What is that supposed to mean?" Molly asked. "Means that plan A was trying to get you out of here. Obviously that didn't go over too well with, uh, Farmer Roadkill." Dean said. "Molly, we're telling the truth. Greeley's not gonna let you leave this highway." Sam said. "You're s... you're serious about this, aren't you?" Molly asked. "Deadly." My siblings, friends, and I said in unison. "Every year, Greeley finds someone to punish for what happened to him. Tonight that person is you." Kara said, okay so we can't tell her she's dead yet. "Why me? I didn't do anything." Molly said. "Doesn't matter. Some spirits only see what they want." I said putting my hands in my pockets. "So you're saying this ... Greeley, he took my husband? Oh, god." Molly said, okay so that's what she got from that. "Molly, look, we're gonna help, all right? But first, you gotta help us." Ricky said. "Help you? How?" Molly asked. "Show us where you found him." Dean said handing me a hand gun full of rock salt. We got to a run down cabin. "This is it. This is where I saw him." Molly said. "Must have been his hunting cabin." Dean said seeing all the stuff. "Huh. Seemed like a real sweet guy." I said seeing the knifes. "No markers or headstones outside." Sam said coming in with Kara and Ricky. "You're looking for Greeley's grave?" Molly asked. "Yeah." Kara said. "Why?" Molly asked. "So we can dig up the corpse and salt and burn it." Ricky said. "Oh. Sure, naturally." Molly said. "It's a way to get rid of a spirit." I said. "And that'll save David?" Molly asked. "Well, burning it will help both of you, provided there's a corpse to be found." Sam said. "So how do we find it?" Molly asked. "I'm not sure. After Greeley died, his wife claimed the body. And that was the last anyone saw of her. So good guess she brought him back here. But they had a thousand acres. He could be buried anywhere on 'em." Kara said. "So this is really what you guys do? You're like Ghostbusters?" Molly asked us. "Yeah." Sam said. "Minus the jumpsuits." Dean said. "And the song Ricky thought was Those Bastards instead of Ghostbusters for years." Kara said. I looked at my friend raising an eyebrow. "It sounded similar." Ricky defended. I rolled my eyes laughing. "This is a fascinating conversation and all, but this highway is only haunted once a year, and we got till sun-up to wrap this thing up. What do you say we move it along, okay? Great." Dean said. We walked outside with our flashlights looking around for the Greeley's house. "What are we looking for?" Molly asked. "Greeley's house. Maybe he's buried there." I said. Look for roads or paths or something." Kara said to her. "Stay close." Sam said. "Yeah. Okay." Molly said. We were lookuand Ricky tapped me and I saw Molly was missing. "Oh come on." I said to Ricky we both ran to find Molly. We found Greeley grabbed her and I shot Greeley with great accuracy. "Hey! Are you all right?" Sam asked Molly who was in some shock. "What has that son of a bitch done with my husband?" Molly asked. "Just take it easy, all right? You're gonna see David again. You will." Kara said. "Hey! Follow the creepy brick road." Dean said seeing bricks leading to a house. We all started walking. "Sadly there is no Oz at the end of this road." I mumbled to Ricky who tried not laughing. "That thing shoots rock salt?" Molly asked me about my gun. "Yep." I said proudly. "And plain salt keeps away spirits?" Molly asked Ricky and I. "Simple remedies are always the best. In most cultures, salt's a symbol of purity, so it repels impure and unnatural things. Same reason you throw it over your shoulder." Ricky said. We walked around the corner and saw a creepy house. "You know, just once I'd like to round the corner and see a nice house." Dean complained. "Sadly we don't get haunted mansions like Scooby-Doo." I said. We walked inside the old house. "Any headstones outside?" Sam asked as Dean walked in. "Yeah, right. Is it ever that easy?" Dean asked. "I guess not." Kara said. "You three check upstairs. See if you can find any notes or records telling us where he's buried. The other three will just check down here." Ricky said. I was with Sam and Molly. We went upstairs to a bedroom with a bunch of papers. "Great." I said going in and we looked around. "Look at this." Molly said taking a scrapbook. We looked at it. "It's Greeley and his wife." I said using my flashlight to look. "It's a love letter he wrote her. My god, it's beautiful. I don't understand how a guy like this can turn into that monster." Molly said reading it. "Um ... Spirits like Greeley are, uh ... like wounded animals. Lost. In so much pain that ... they lash out." Sam said. "Why? Why are they here?" Molly asked. "Well, there's some part of them that... that's keeping them here. Like their remains or, um... unfinished business." I said trying to use the right words. "Unfinished business?" Molly asked. "Yeah. Uh, it could be revenge. Could be love. Or hate. Whatever it is, they just hold on too tight. Can't let go. So they're trapped. Caught in the same loops. Replaying the same tragedies over and over." Sam said. "You sound almost sorry for them." Molly said to Sam. "Well, they weren't evil people, you know? A lot of them were good. Just... Something happened to them. Something they couldn't control." Sam said. "Sammy's always getting a little J. Love Hewitt when it comes to things like this. Me, I don't like 'em. And I sure as hell ain't making apologies for 'em." Dean said. "Mae though always makes sure things are evil before killing it." Kara said. I nodded. "There's nothing downstairs. You guys find anything?" Ricky said coming up. "Uh, just about every piece of mail or receipt they ever had. Looked through a couple, but nothing about a grave so far." Sam said. I tjen went over to a wall it looked like something behind it. "What?" Dean asked me. "There's something behind here." I pointed out. "Here. It's locked from the inside." Dean said trying to open it. I did the most logical thing I kicked the wall it falling in we crawled in. "It smells like old lady in here." Ricky commented. We then saw an old lady corpse. "And that would explain why you smelled that Ricky." Kara said. "Well, now we know why nobody ever saw her again." I said. "She didn't want to live without him." Molly said. "Guys, give me a hand." Sam said about to remove the body. "Really?" Dean asked. "What are you gonna do?" Molly asked. "We can't leave her like this." I said going over to help Sam. "Why not?" Dean asked. "She deserves to be put to rest, Dean." Kara said. Dean went to help Sam and I and I almost puked at the smell. We were outside and we made Kara and Ricky dig the grave. "So... So, if you manage to put Greeley to rest, too... What happens to them?" Molly asked. "Lady, that answer is way beyond our pay grade." Dean said. "We don't get paid." I said. "Exactly." Dean said. "You hunt these things, but you don't know what happens to them?" Molly asked. "Well, they never come back. That's all that matters." Dean said. "After they let go of whatever's keeping them here, they ... they just go. I hope someplace better, but we don't know. No one does." Sam said. "What happens when you burn their bones?" Molly asked. "Umm... Well, my dad used to say that was like death for ghosts, you know?" Sam said. "But... The truth is, we still don't know. Not for sure. Guess that's why we all hold on to life so hard. Even the dead. We're all just scared of the unknown." I said. "The only thing I'm scared of is losing David. I have to see him again. I have to." Molly said. We were now in the house I felt ready to sleep so Ricky was making me eat candy he kept on him so a crunch bar was keeping me awake. "I think we should tell her about her husband." Sam said to us. "We can't." Dean said. "Dean, it's cruel, letting her pine for him like this. I don't like keeping her in the dark." Ricky said. "It's for her own good. Man, I know you feel guilty, all right? But let's just stick to the plan. Let's get her out of here. Then we'll tell her." Dean said. "Tell me what? What aren't you telling me? It's about David. You know what happened to him." Molly said. "No, maybe, let's just go back to no." I said. "What aren't you telling me? Don't tell me because I'll mess up your hunt? You don't care about me or my husband." Molly said to us. "That's not true." Kara said. "Really? Then whatever it is, tell me, please." Molly said suddenly the same song from the radio earlier was playing. "He's coming." Molly said. "Stay with her." Dean said to Ricky and I. We nodded. Ricky and Molly were standing by the window and I step towards the next room and I hear a crash and Greeley took Molly and Ricky. "He's got Molly and Ricky!" I yelled. We both jumped out of the window and after Greeley. We sadly lost him and we went back to the house. "This guy is persistent." Kara commented. "We gotta find Molly and Ricky." Sam said. "We gotta find Greeley's bones. And, uh, no pressure or anything, but we got less than two hours before sunrise." Dean said. "Hey." Sam said having the photo album I looked at the pictures. "What do you got?" Dean asked. "February 6, 1992." I said pointing out the date. "That was like two weeks before the accident, wasn't it?" Kara asked seeing it. "Yeah. I mean, it looks like the hunting cabin, but... I swear there's a tree there right where they're standing." I said looking closer. "I should've thought of it." Sam said. "What?" Dean asked. "It's an old country custom, guys. Planting a tree as a grave marker." Sam said. "You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness." Dean said I lightly smacked him. "Yeah. I know." Sam said bitterly. We got to the hunting cabin Dean and Kara went in and Sam and I dug up the Greeley and I dumped the salt on him and gasoline and Sam lite the lighter and threw it in causing the body to catch on fire we saw Greeley go up in flames in the cabin. Ricky and Molly got out. "I'm so glad this night is over." Ricky said. "Same I can sleep." I said. We got back to the impala. "Oh, baby, it's been a long night." Dean said. Ricky and I got in the backseat Kara in the middle up front and Sam opened the door for Molly. Molly got in and Sam got in we drove to where David was living right now. We got out of the car. "He's in that house, right there." I said to Molly. "I don't understand." Molly said. "You will." Kara said. "That's ... not ... It can't be. What's happening? Who is that?" Molly said not believing it. "That's David's wife." Sam said. "I'm sorry, Molly. 15 years ago, you and your husband hit Jonah Greeley with your car. David survived." I said. "What are you saying?" Molly asked. "We're saying there isn't just one spirit haunting Highway 41. There are two. Jonah Greeley and you." Dean said. "For the past 15 years, one night a year you've been appearing on that highway." Kara said. "No, that's not possible. It was our anniversary ... February 22nd." Molly said. "1992." I said. "Yes." Molly said. "Molly, it's 2007." Ricky said. "Oh, god." Molly said. We told her about us finding out about the case and how we found her. "And Greeley?" Molly asked after we explained everything. "Each year he punishes somebody for his death... ah, chasing them. Torturing them. And each year, that somebody is you." Sam said. "But I don't remember any of it." Molly said. "Because you couldn't see the truth, Molly." Kara said. "So that's why he won't let me off the highway. Because... I killed him. I killed us both." Molly said. It was nearing dawn and we were still outside of David's house. "Why didn't you tell me when you first saw me? Why wait until now?" Molly asked. "You wouldn't have believed us." Dean said. "And you needed me for bait." Molly said accusingly to Dean. "Well, we needed you." Ricky said. "David." Molly said. "Molly, we brought you here so you could move on." Sam said. "I have to tell him." Molly said. "Tell him what? That you love him? That you're sorry? Molly, he already knows that. Look, if you want to go in there, we're not gonna stop you." Kara said to Molly. "Yeah, but you are gonna freak him right out. For life." I mumbled. "David's already said his good byes, Molly. Now it's your turn. This is your unfinished business." Ricky said. "What am I supposed to do?" Molly asked. "Just... let go. Of David. Of everything. You do that... we think you'll move on." I said. "But you don't know where." Molly said tearing up. "No. But Molly, you don't belong here. Haven't you suffered long enough? It's time. It's time to go." Sam said. Molly moved toward the light and disappeared. "I guess she wasn't so bad... for a ghost. You think she's really going to a better place?" Dean asked us. "I hope so." Sam said. "I guess we'll never know. Not until we take the plunge ourselves, huh?" Dean said. "Doesn't really matter, Dean. Hope's kind of the whole point." Kara said. "Okay Kara. Now come on guys and kids let hit the road." Dean said. "I'm in my 20s Dean." Ricky said. "Yet you are a great friend to my baby sister who is 11." Sam said. "Can it Grumpy cat." Ricky said. We got in the car and I fell asleep almost instantly.A\N:New Chapter and I'm gonna add theme songs for the season characters I did season 1 earlier now I have to do this book.
