Mary's POV
We were in the car driving to mom's grave. "Come on, Sam, I'm begging you. This is stupid." Dean said. "Why?" Sam asked. "What's wrong with visiting Mom's grave?" I asked. "I'm with Mae." Kara said. "She doesn't even have a grave -- there, there was no body left after the fire." Dean said. "Was she cremated in 1995?" I asked, knowing there is always a body . "No we gave her a hunter funeral." Dean said awkwardly. "Yeah plus she has a headstone." Sam said. "Yeah, put up by her uncle, a man we've never even met. So you wanna, go pay your respects to a slab of granite put up by a stranger? Come on." Dean said. "Dean, that's not the point." Kara said. "Well then, enlighten me, Kara." Dean said. "It's not about a body, or, or, a casket. It's about her memory, okay?" Kara said. "Hmmm." Dean said. "If it gets bad, I want to hitchhike." I said to Kara making her smack the back of my head. "And after Dad it just... just feels like the right thing to do." Sam said. "It's irrational, is what it is." Dean said. "Look, man. No one asked you to come." I said. "Why don't we swing by the roadhouse instead? I mean, we haven't heard anything on the demon lately. We should be hunting that son of a bitch down." Dean said. "That's a good idea, you should. Just drop us off, we'll hitch a ride, and meet you there tomorrow." Kara said. "Right. Stuck ... stuck with those people, making awkward small talk until you guys show up? No thanks." Dean said. "Then let's go to a Mary's grave." Kara said. We got there and I saw mom's headstone. I crossed out 1983 and wrote 1995. "There now it's correct." I said. "Did you really deface mom's grave?" Sam asked. "She died in 1995." I said. "I think, um .... I think Dad would have wanted you to have these." Sam said getting out dog tags and burying them in the hole he dug. "We love you, Mom." I said. Sam wrapped his arms around me. "She would've loved you." Sam said. Dean and Kara came back. "I we have a case, here." They said. Sam and I nodded. Dean got a card from a guy in a suit and walked over to us. "Angela Mason. She was a student at the local college; funeral was three days ago." Dean said. "And?" Kara asked. "And? You saw her grave. Everything dead around it, in a perfect circle? You don't think that's a little weird?" Dean asked. "Maybe the groundskeeper went a little agro with the pesticide." Sam said thinking of a logical explanation. "No, I asked him. No pesticide, no chemicals. Nobody can explain it." Dean said. "Okay, so what are you thinking?" I asked curious. "I dunno. Unholy ground, maybe?" Dean said. "Un--." Sam said stopping speechless. "What? If something evil happened there, it could easily poison the ground. Remember the, the farm outside of Cedar Rapids?" Kara said. "Yeah, b-." Sam said Dean cutting him off. "Could be the sign of a demonic presence. Or the, the Angela girl's spirit, if it's powerful enough." Dean said. Sam nodded turning away. "Well, don't get too excited, you might pull something." I joked. "It's just... stumbling onto a hunt? Here, of all places?" Sam said. "So?" Dean and Kara asked. "So -- are you sure this is about a hunt, and not about something else?" Sam asked suspious. "What else would it be about?" Dean asked. "You know, just forget about it." Sam said getting in the car. "You believe what you want, Sam, but -- I let you drag our asses out here, the least we could do is check this out." Dean said also getting in. "Yeah. Fine." Sam said. "Girl's dad works in town. He's a professor at the school." Kara said the focus back on the case. We got to the school and knocked on the door. A man answered he seemed like a nice man. "Dr. Mason?" Dean asked. "Yes?" Dr. Mason asked. "I'm Sam. This is Dean. That's  Kara and her little sister Mary. We were friends of Angela's. We ... we wanted to offer our condolences." Sam said. "Please, come in." Dr. Mason said opening the door more. We sat down and looked around his office I looked through a photo album with Sam. "She was beautiful." I said. "Yes, she was." Dr. Mason said. "This is an unusual book." Dean said as him and Kara were reading a book. "It's ancient Greek; I teach a course." Dr. Mason said. I walked over and looked at the book it was in Greek writing. "So a car accident, that's, that's horrible." Kara said. "Angie was only a mile away from home when, uh ...." Dr. Mason trailed off. "It's gotta be hard. Losing someone like that. Sometimes it's like they're s-- still around. Almost like you can still sense their presence." Dean said. Sam and I gave him a seriously look. "You ever feel anything like that?" Dean continued. "I do, as a matter of fact." Dr. Mason said smiling sadly. "That's perfectly normal, Dr. Mason. Especially with what you're going through." Sam said still bitch facing Dean. "You know, I still phone her. And the phone's ringing before I remember that, uh .... Family's everything, you know? Angie was the most important thing in my life. And now I, I, I'm just lost without her." Dr. Mason said sadly. "We're very sorry." Kara and I said. We left and I was texting Ricky.
Ricky:My life sucks.
Mary:What happened?
Ricky:My mom found out I was kidnapped and blames the Winchester's.
Mary:I'm a Winchester does she blame me?
Ricky:No she thinks you're a great influence on me.
Mary:Good and good luck.
We got a motel room. I was lying on the bed. "I'm telling you, there's something going on here. We just haven't found it yet." Dean said. "Dean, so far you've got a patch of dead grass and nothing." Sam said. "Well, something turned that grave into unholy ground." Kara said. "There's no reason for it to be unholy ground. Angela Mason was a nice girl who died in a car crash. That's not exactly vengeful spirit material. You heard her father." I said. "Yeah, well, maybe Daddy doesn't know everything there is to know about his little angel, huh?" Dean said. Does he like pudding people off. "You know what? We never should have bothered that poor man. We shouldn't even be here anymore." Sam said. "So what, Sam? What, we just bail? Without even figuring out what's going on?" Dean asked. "I think I know what's going on here. It's the only reason I went along with you this far." Sam said. "What are you talking about?" Dean asked. "This is about Mom's grave." I said realizing it. "That's got nothing to do with it." Dean said scoffing. "You wouldn't step within a hundred yards of it." Kara pointed out. "Maybe you're imagining a hunt where there isn't one so you don't have to think about Mom. Or Dad." I said trying to be gentle. Dean looked at Sam. "You wanna take another swing? Go ahead, if it'll make you feel better." Sam said. Did he literally want to get punched? "I don't need this crap." Dean said shaking his head and grabbing his jacket. "Dean, where're you going?" Sam asked. "I'm going to go get a drink. Alone." Dean said and left. I lied down and fell asleep. I woke up and Kara was getting ready for the day. "Come on let's get some breakfast." Kara said. I nodded and got up and brushed the tangles out of my hair and did them in low pigtails. "You look too innocent." Kara commented. "Helps on cases doesn't it." I said. Kara nodded. We left and sat in a diner and I saw Dean come in and sit down next to Kara. "Hey Mae." Dean said smiling at me. "Aren't you two a little young to have a daughter?" A woman, who looked like only her opinion mattered, asked. "No, plus she is my little sister." Dean said. "Isn't, she a bit too young to be your sister." The woman said. "Mind your own beeswax woman." I snapped. A waitress came over and I ordered Oreo Belgium waffle with a glass of milk, Dean ordered coffee and pancakes with a side of bacon, Kara got orange juice and pancakes with a side of bacon. My food came and was set in front of me.
