'Ok one more go' Lou thought as he ran into the door for the tenth time trying to break it down. Like the nine times before, it didn't budge, he held onto his shoulder trying to numb the pain, why did he think this would work again?
Bruised and defeated he slumped onto his bed. 'I need to find a way out' all Lou could think of was the note, it was confusing, he had never been very fond of Lucky bat but he couldn't find a reason for him to do this and make Mandy say all that, what did he hope to gain?
Lou covered his eyes with his forearm, breathed in and then out. He then threw his hand from his eyes and onto the bed.
All this was so frustrating, he felt so helpless.
Then he opened his eyes, and it was like for the first time he was seeing clearly. "Was that air vent always there?" He asked himself, it was a rhetorical question, it had to have been there the whole time and he just hadn't noticed until now.
He thought back and remembered his first day in this cell, he spent most of his time jumping and trying to reach the air vent, but after a while, he stopped, knowing it was pointless. He hadn't yet tried it with all the things in the room though most importantly the bed.
He realized that after Mandy has started visiting him regularly his wanting for escape had been forgotten, but now he knew it would be possible. With all his strength left he pushed the bed underneath the vent and began to jump, it was a good thing it was a bouncy mattress otherwise he might have not been able to make it "one...two...three!" He jumped with all his might and grabbed hold of the rim of the vent, it dug into his hands but he manages to push past the pain and pull himself up. Finely he had made it, he was out, and ready to go save Mandy.
He then poked his head back through the vent to scan the room and saw Ducky sitting quietly on the bedside table. "I'll come back for you ducky...." He whispered like he was leaving a beloved friend behind."Ugh why is it so hot" Lou complained while wiping his brow from sweat. He had been crawling through the vent for what felt like hours. 'Where am I even going?' You thought this idea was better in theory. His knees were aching and his hair was dripping with sweat, all he could do was keep on going forward. Eventually, he couldn't take any more of it, he peeled off his jacket and undid his first three shirt buttons. He felt as if he was in a sauna after a while Lou began to lose focus the heat had gotten to him and he became clumsy with his movements. Lou didn't quite know what he did wrong at this moment, he might have put too much weight were there shouldn't have been, nonetheless, somehow he made one wrong move and fell straight through the ceiling, then he found himself apon the cold floor. it all went into a blur of colour, he found the strength to open his eyes a sliver then saw Lucky bat and Mandy? Was she sitting on a chair, and what were those things around her arms...ropes? he saw it all fading into black, then Lou fell unconscious.
"Oh look I found a rat" Lucky bat chuckled
Mandy sat there, astonished looking at the now sleeping Lou on the floor.
"He must have been in there for hours" lucky bat continued before saying "oh well...love makes you do crazy things"
Mandy blinked twice for that statement
"What do you mean? Lou and I weren't like that" Mandy said still looking perplexed.
Lucky bat raised his eyebrow and gave her a
Look that said 'seriously are you kidding me? How dumb could you be?'
But he kept that part to himself, then he lined his next words with sarcasm and said
"Oh really, my mistake"
He rolled his eyes "ok well I'm going to need more rope, for our guest here, if you would excuse me." With that Lucky bat went out through the door leaving Mandy to meditate
On the words, he had just said
"Love makes you do crazy things"
What an odd thing to say indeed?
