TW:SWEARING

WADES POV

So, it has been a few days since my little "Get to know the skeletons time". After Hector locked Burr and I in a room I only met 6 other skeletons. They were pretty nice, they seemed to like me. But tomorrow, it's Thanksgiving. I kinda want to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family but I'm pretty sure the skeletons won't let me go. I mean, I want to ask... but what if some of the skeletons were British? That would be awkward... So maybe I should just gather some food from the outside. Thank gosh they let me outside, they just have a few limits.. and atleast one skeleton has to watch me.

I look at the time. 9:28PM. I want to sneak out to go get supplies to make pumpkin pie or get a turkey, but knowing that they're skeletons, they're probably still awake. But I can't go anywhere out of this forest by foot... My bike has a flat tire and the skeletons won't take me shopping, obviously. That would catch too much attention.

Maybe they have some food in the kitchen? I can check I guess...

I walk, well sorta run, down the stairs. I thought I could go without making any noise when at the last few steps, I trip. I fell down the last few steps and just faceplant into the floor. Silently praying that no skeletons were in the living room. I slowly lift up my head. Only to see about 10 skeletons in the main living room. And I didn't know anyone of them.

They all quickly turn around to see a fifteen year old human child, on the ground. They all seem shocked and confused. I guess they weren't there when Hector, and I quote, told them to "Get their a$$es down here". They shrug it off, thinking it was another child just sneaking into the haunted house.

I give them a shy smile and a little wave while still on the ground. "What the fuck..." I heard one whisper under their breath. Oh yea, normal humans can't see them. "Y-you can see us?! How?!" I heard one of them shout. Judging by the number of times I've been asked this, I guess I should just write down a speech and carry it with me, answering their question. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW EITHER!

I quickly stumble to get off the ground, standing up. I clear my throught. "Ahem.... I don't know either." I replied. I can tell they're still shocked, not knowing what to do, I slowly drag my feet to the kitchen. I can still feel their eyes on me.

I quickly rush to the kitchen and duck under a counter, hoping that they just shrugged it off. Which would probably be impossible. I lift up my head a little bit over the counter, I see them talking to eachother, judging by the frequent, "child." and "human!" I think I can take a good guess that they're talking about me.

I open the fridge and see nothing. Great. Now I got noticed for nothing.

I slowly sneak through the main living room, the skeletons that saw me are still talking about me on the dark purple sofa. I take a few glances around the room, I see a TV, a little coffee table, some purple banners with little yellow dots on it, and the paintings.

I quickly grab the stair rail, which is actually pretty smooth. It's polished wood. I hold onto it while tiptoeing up the stairs, which also are purple with a darker purple long rug with yellow dots on it. They really like purple. I keep glancing back and forth, from the skeletons in the living room, to the stairs. I keep doing this until I run into another skeleton.

I quickly snap my head to the stairs, in front of me, I see Hector. Atleast it wasn't another skeleton I didn't know.

"What are you doing?" He asks me, stretching out the 'ing' "I-uh-well-thanks-family-turkey?" I say, for some reason I couldn't find the words.

Hector took a moment to think about what the hell I was taking about. "Iuhwell thanks family turkey? Ya want a turkey?" He asks, he asked the last sentence like I was dumb. "Well yes, but actually no?" I reply, "WAIT, YES!" I quickly add.

He nodded, questiongly staring at me. I glance sideways and then back to him, giving him an innocent smile. "May I ask why?" He asks. "Uh-well.. I want to celebrate Thanksgiving. But not really here. I just want to have the traditional meals, like a turkey, mashed potatoes, ham, gravy, pumpkin pie. But just turkey would be fine."

Hector nodded, this time more understanding. "Thanksgiving..." he repeated. "I've heard of it, but I've never celebrated it." Hector said, rubbing his temples. "Y-you've never celebrate Thanksgiving before?" I ask in disbelief.

"Well, you see. There are two types of skeletons. The kind that die and become a skeleton, or a person that's just born a skeleton, it's pretty bad. You have to go to skeleton school, since the 'normal' kids and teachers can't see you. I was born as just a skeleton, so I've never had a human life." Hector explained.

"Thats horrible.." I reply, still in disbelief. I'm thankful that I wasn't born just a skeleton.

"Yea.. but I think we might have some turkey, I think it's turkey. Maybe it's chicken?" Hector replied.  I chuckle, "That'll be just fine."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TIME SKIP~~~~~~~~~~~
Hector and I finally finished heating up the turkey-chicken. We still haven't figured out what it is. But it looks chicken-y enough. We got potatoes and Hector, just started mashing them. I grab the recipe book that I grabbed from the attic, checking if he was supposed to do that. Hey, in my defense, I've only helped make pumpkin pie.
BASIC MASHED POTATOES RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
2 POUND BAKING POTATOES, PEELED AND QUARTED
2 TABLESPOONS OF BUTTER
1 CUP OF MILK
SALT AND PEPPER TO TASTE
DIRECTIONS
1) Bring a pot of salted water to boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender but still firm, about 15 minutes; drain
2) In a small saucepan heat butter and milk over low heat until butter is melted. Using a potato masher or electric beater, slowly blend milk mixture into potatoes until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Uhh... I don't think he's doing it right. Whatever, they probably don't have all of that stuff.
~~~~~~~~~~~~TIME SKIP AGAIN~~~~~~~~~~

After we finally got the turkey-chicken and the "mashed potatoes" ready, we set it down at the table. By the time we finished it was 11:58PM. Hey, pretty good for people who have never really cooked before. All of the skeletons were in their own room, not sleeping, probably just doing whatever skeletons do.

Hector and I sat down at the table and looked at our meal. We grab a few pieces of turkey and a spoonful of "mashed potatoes" (A/N im putting quotes around mashed potatoes since Hector just mashed the potatoes)

We look at eachother, then back at the food, then at the clock. 11:59. We stare at the clock for a while then it rung. 12:00AM. Hector and I looked at eachother. "Happy Thanksgiving." I said to him. He smiled. "Happy Thanksgiving." We pick up the turkey-chicken with a fork and take a bite. It's pretty good. We get the "mashed potatoes" and take a bite. Pretty good too!(yea, I'm not sure if just mashing the potatoes is good, please don't try that xD)

We were both satisfied with our meal, it was Hector's first time having a Thanksgivng meal, and it made me feel at home. I hope my grandparents aren't worried.

They probably are..
