Pranking Nicholas is not one of the easiest things in the world. First, I couldn't mess with his computer because he was a pro in debugging, it would be a walk in the park for him. Secondly, he had no problem with pink, blue or rainbow coloured hair or teeth or skin. It'd just give his lazy ass another excuse to stay at home and play his video games.
Basically I was out of ideas and it had been a week now. He had already attempted to prank me two times. Once by replacing my handwash with lube.
Yes he really did that.
Thank god, Sebastian stopped me before I went out with my hands smelling like lubes. Secondly he completely covered my car with sticky notes, there wasn't an inch visible when I stepped out early in the morning it was just a mass of neon pink, green and yellow. He also took the liberty of writing in each of them that he was the prank king. It took me an entire day to clean my car.
Walking around my room I thought of starting with the basic ideas I've used before like attaching an air horn beneath someone's seat, putting toothpaste between Oreos, coating the soap with clear nail polish- the ideas swarmed my head instantly as I got up and picked up my jacket. It was the time for my ingredient shopping.
Two hours later I was at Nick's place while he was at college, Caroline welcomed me inside and was very happy to assist me in pranking her brother. Her mother was out at work so we had almost two hours in our hand to carry out everything I had planned. I carried the bag of supplies upstairs and entered Nick's room. His 40 inch tv stood proudly in front of me, I dropped my supplies on his bed and picked up the remote. The first thing I did was black taped the sensor with a thin strip of tape which made it almost unnoticeable.
Next up I got my hands on his hair dryer and poured baby powder in it. Once satisfied that it was not dripping out I kept it back in its place. I handed Caroline cotton balls and asked her to put them in the tips of his sneakers while I glued the caps of his shampoo, deodorants and everything that had a cap except for his water bottles.
I took out the hot chilli peppers powder and smeared it on his closet's door handle and ofcourse his bathroom door. Lastly, I put itching powder in his toilet paper.
However I wasn't satisfied with these, all the pranks I had set up were going to be effective by today and where was the fun in torturing him for just one day! Taking the screw driver out of my bag I grabbed his laptop. It was not long before the keyboard portion was removed and I had placed tiny chia pet seeds. I advised Caroline to water them very little daily so that they grow with a day or two.
This should keep reminding him to not mess with me again. Handing a pack of m&m to Caroline I started my solitary walk to my car and by the time I reached home the sun was going down. I had completely forgotten to water the backyard gardens but since mom wasn't still back from work I had some time in my hand.
I quickly changed back to my pj's and walked out directly to my mother watering the plants herself. She threw me a freeze hell over glare before going back to watering the plants and chatting with Mrs Volkov.
"Good evening sweetheart" Mrs Volkov greeted me once I was in line with her sight. I politely wished her back before bidding them good bye and returning back to my room. The sun was low on the sky when I took my seat beside the window with Mr Mercedes by Stephen King clutched in my hands. However the sight in front of me distracted me altogether.
Erik it was, walking down the lane with his phone clutched to ear and somehow I found myself unable to take my eyes off him. I don't know if it was for his white jacket which brought out his near to perfect golden skin or the way he had his scar peeking out of the neck of his tee every time he shoved his hands in his pockets and pulled his tee down as a result. I had noticed this at Leo's since he almost never had his jacket zipped and he wore a V neck, the scar had been visible. I could see the faint outline now.
A deep breath escaped my lips, Erik was just so different from any guy I've seen. It was hard to simply ignore him or his presence. I had never known that someone could draw your attention when you have your head clouded with someone else's thoughts.
He looked upwards, specifically towards my window as if sensing my observant gaze on him. A smile slowly lighted up his face as he waved at me, though he tried to cover that slight hint of smirk for catching me staring. I waved back at him before he went back to his conversation and I to my book.
It was 4 am when I woke up with my phone ringing incessantly beside my head. Groaning I flipped over and saw an unknown number flashing over my screen. Great! Just what I needed.
"Hello" I said weakly, pulling the blankets over my head.
"It's Erik." I sucked in a deep breath as soon as his voice reached my ears.
"It's 4 am and I don't think you called me to let me know that this is your number"
Erik chuckled and my lips curled too, unknowingly. "Yes, that wasn't my intention but Trinity, is that your boyfriend climbing the pipe to your window?"
"Boy what?" I whisper-shouted before, sitting up straight almost dropping the phone but I placed it back to my ear. "I don't have a boyfriend" I claimed, picking up a filled water bottle from my bedside table. "Wait. It might be Nicholas trying to prank me." I paused. "I'll hang up, if it's not him, I... I'll scream"
"Alright, I can see you I'm by the window" He said. "Scream if something goes wrong" He added before ending the call.
I went over to my window and flashed my cellphone's flash at the figure climbing the pipe. "Say your name or I'll drop this fucking two litre water bottle on top of your head"
"Why the fuck are you awake now" Nicholas groaned, looking up at me.
I rolled my eyes at him even though he couldn't see me in the dark. "Such a sucky looser" I teased. "Now go home or-"
"You'll drop the fucking two litre goddamned bottle on my head. I got it" He shouted before starting his climb down.
Five minutes later I was settled in the bed hearing the distant rumble of Nicholas' car gaining distance. My fingers hovered over the dial pad of my phone, debating whether to call Erik back. He deserved a thank you. Instead I found myself adding his number to my contacts and messaging him a thank you.
You sure have some fun friends.
His reply came within seconds. "I wouldn't have it any other way" I spelled as I typed.
I guess I can say that our choices are same in that criteria.
"Are they now?" I replied back in a voice message because it was too cold to take out both my hands to type.
Yes. Looking forward to know more of your choices. Sleep now. Sweet dreams Trinity.
I wished him the same and slipped the phone back beneath my pillow with no idea why my heart was messing up with it's beats because they were faster. Just a little faster.
