Childhood

Some call it childhood,
Some say it's the beginning
But only a child knows it's true meaning;
The estatic feeling of joy and belonging,
Are what make childhood the most cherishing.

That was the time when clouds seemed like candyfloss,
And going to the moon the task of a novice;
Balloons were meant to be flown away,
And chocolates were an integral part of everyday.

Studies were a source of new learning,
That was the time when we learnt to say "good morning";
When on a bus the feet reaching the ground was amusing,
And reading a book seemed so boring.

When reaching Class X was a distant dream,
Getting a golden star meant a big ice-cream;
When teaching was the only ambition,
That was when childhood had not ended it's contribution.

Childhood is a gift of the past to be cherished in future,
That's why I say my dear,
Cherish them when death is near,
For these are the moments we would forever endear.
