"VIRGIL!!"

Virgil's bedroom door swung open as Roman and Patton rushed in, soon followed by Logan. Roman rushed to Virgil's side, scanning him for any signs of trouble.

Virgil tucked his knees to his chest, shaking and crying quietly. Patton wrapped his arms around him in a warm embrace, trying to calm him down. Roman rested a hand on his shoulder and looked at Virgil with a worried expression.

"Virgil, are you alright? We heard screaming," Roman said, trying extremely hard to push back the tears that were threatening to fall. Virgil nodded slowly, wiping his face.

"Y-yeah. I just had a nightmare."

Patton hugged Virgil tighter. "Kiddo, can you tell us what happened in the nightmare?"

Virgil glanced up at Roman sheepishly before he spoke. "It...it was about Roman..."

Roman went red in the face. He sat down next to Virgil, who was also blushing. Patton moved away from Virgil, sitting in front of the two.

"This man...dressed in yellow...was trying to kill Roman. H-half of his face was covered in snake scales. H-he had a knife to Roman's throat and threatened to kill him if I didn't..." Virgil stopped short, burying his head in his hands. Roman threw an arm around Virgil's shoulder, trying to provide comfort.

"You don't have to tell us, Virge. If it's too sensitive of a topic, don't feel pressured to tell us. We just want to help," Roman said as he looked at his friend. Virgil was so small, so helpless. Roman could feel his frail body shaking under his arm.

Virgil looked up at him, his eyes widening. "R-really?"

Roman furrowed his brow. "Of course."

Virgil smiled warmly. "It's just...I feel like I've always been forced to tell other people my problems. But...it's different with you guys...hey, Pat?"

Patton looked up. "Hm?"

Virgil looked at Roman sheepishly. "Could Roman and I have a moment alone?"

Roman's heart shot out of his chest and into his throat. His face went bright red, and he could have sworn that he heard Virgil snicker under his breath.

"Oh! Sure thing, kiddo. Lo and I will leave you alone~" He said with a raised eyebrow.

"Shut up, Padre."

Patton chuckled. "Alright, fine. C'mon, Lo," he said, grabbing Logan's arm and leading him out of the room. The second the door closed, Virgil turned to Roman.

"You're weird, you know that?" he blurted out. Roman raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"I said you're weird," Virgil repeated. he looked at his bed, picking at the loose strings of the blankets absentmindedly. "You just...one moment you act like you genuinely like me, then the next, we're bickering and you're calling me dumb nicknames."
