Chapter 9: Back Story

Im so sorry it took so long and that its so short! I haven't been able to write lately 

Virgil pov

Two months. I've spent two months in this house with this boy. He's a little shorter then me but could still hurt me if he wanted. We are both 14 i found out though hes three months older.

Every few days i have to bandage his wounds. New and old. I found out that the woman i had heard the first day was his aunt. She was a drunk and an abusive caretaker. His mom died when he was young. I still haven't told Patton my name name. Or spoken at all only responding with nods and grunts when Patton asked me something.

Currently we were walking through the woods playing in the trees laughing.

Then patton fell. A scream escaping his lips. I panicked. I then quickly rushed down toward the boy who lay groaning in pain.

"PATTON?!" I screamed. 'Shit. shit shit.' I thought not even realizing i had spoke. As i came beside Patton I quickly checked him over. "No broken bones thank god. Only a few scratches. GOD Patton you need to be more careful. Thank goodness it didn't rip open any of your other wounds." I said pulling the boys head into my lap like i had done a hundred times before. I then started to brushed the hair out of Patton's face.

"Holy shitocky mushrooms?!" Patton said siting straight up facing me.

"What?"

"YOU SPOKE!"

"Ummm" I commented a light blush of embarrassment on my face.

"OMG UR VOICE IS SO CUTE!" Patton squealed then a dark blush settled on our faces as he realized what he said. "It- um- i ment. Uh" pat studered looking to the forest floor.

I put my hand on his shoulder. cupping his cheek making him look up at me.

"I know what you meant... thanks... your voice is.. Cute? To." I stuttered out.

He put his hand on mine and gave it a gentle squeeze.

"I'm glad you were able to trust me enough to talk to me. Even if it was on accident." Patton said looking up into my eyes. He then took my hand pulling me up. Once we were both standing he wrapped his arms around my middle hugging me softly.

We stood there for a long time in eachothers arms. Just hugging. It felt so peaceful.

Then we heard hoof beats.

"What is that?!" Patton worried pulling away.

"I don't know. Come on" I whispered pulling him behind a tree. The hoof beats grew closer and suddenly stopped. I peered around the tree to see a- 'Dark palace horse and guard?!' I thought. Patton must have seen it to. The boy looked around our age. He jumped off his horse walking around.

"Whos there?" he said. I pulled patton closer to me.

"I'm going out there." Pat whispered.

"What?! No!" but i was too late he was already out of my arms rounding the tree.

Patton POV

I was walking around the tree to meet this boy.

"Why hello!" I said cheerfully. A bright fake smile on my face.

"Hi?" the boy said. Looking at me.

I then notest his face. Green scales dotted the right side of his face accompanied by one yellow eye and a scar running from the corner of his mouth across his cheek. The other side of his face was completely smooth. No blemishes cuts and or bruises. He looked cool to say the least.

"I love your face." Patton said taking a step forward to admire the other features of the boy. The boy then took a step back. Confusion in his eyes.

"Y-You what?" the boy asked quizzically.

"Your face! Its so cool. The way the green catches in the light. The yellow snake eye! The way you look like two different people smashed together. It's totally amazing." I complimented. The boys face seemed to light up with surprize and thankfulness.

"Wow, thank you. No one has ever said that about me. They either call me a freak or look away." He said taking a step forward. "Im Prince Damocles, You can call me Dee!" he put out a hand.

I then had a mental war with myself about telling him my real name or not.

"Cervus" I said deciding on my last name in latin. "Nice to meet you your highness." i then went into a deep bow. He seemed surprised again.

"O-Oh there's no need for that." Dee said.

"DAMOCLES?!" we heard someone shout.

"Oh well I must be off!" Dee said looking toward the voice. "I hope to see you again Cervus." He said grabbing my hand and kissing the top lightly. Then rushing back onto his horse and into the woods.

"Holy shiz." I muttered a light blush on my cheeks.

"Who the hell does he think he is." Anx said coming around the tree.

"Don't worry Anx, we won't ever see him again."I said comly.

"Virgil, my names Virgil." He said looking at his feet.

"Oh! Ok!" I said walking towards him wrapping my arms around his neck again. "Let's go home!"

He chuckled. The swept my feet out from under me picking me up bridal style.

"HEY! Put me down!" I laughed as we walked back 'home'.

"Hm... No" He said holding me to him. Hm today was a good day.

HEYYYYYY!! So what did u think?? Sorry it took so long! I've been really stressed lately and didn't really have any inspiration! sorry if there are any plot holes I was multi tasking while writing this. hope u guys are having a good day!
