Patton POV

As I pulled my blue cloak over my shoulders. I wondered what our adventure would be today. Of course we had shift to walk the perimeter of the camp but that didn't mean we couldn't have fun. Virgil and I were walking towards the fence of the camp. My eyes lingered on the dark makeup underneath is violet eyes that held a world of shadows and secrets that only I knew. . Ever since he was 12, I was the only person to know the real reasons he wore it.

"Patton you ok?" Virgil's voice took me back to reality. I gave a quick nod. "Ok? You were kinda staring at me weird though. Whats on your mind?"

"Nothing, its just... we haven't been on an adventure in so long. The camp head hasn't sent us on any missions lately. I just want to do something besides walk around this boring camp."

Virgil looked at me with stars in his eyes. "Ok. then lets go do something."

"What do you mean? What should we do? And what if we get in trouble." I asked worried. I stoped walking and faced him. I started messing with the purple necklace i usually fidgeted with when i was nervous.

"Hey don't worry that's my job!" Virgil chuckled his purple cloak rustling in the breeze as he smiled at me. "No one will miss us. We could sneak down to one of the dark villages. Or if you don't want to do that we could ask to pretrol a light kingdom."

I couldn't help but smile at the mischief in his eyes. My hand grabbed the bad strap under my cloak that helped my dagger and other necessities. "Your turning around. Usually by this point you would already have dragged me into the woods by now. But ya that sounds like fun. Dark kingdom it is. I'm up for a little mischief." i said snekaly. I had always been fascinated by how the dark worked they weren't evil at all but had different beliefs then the lights. I grabbed virgil's hand not waiting for him to protest i started to run to the brake in the fence. As we passed through i let go of his hand.

"Ready?"

Virgils pov

"Ready" Patton asked. I saw the adventures spirit in his eyes and couldn't help but nod. We started to walk towards middenvil the closest dark kingdom we hadn't already been to. The trees around us seemed to sparkle with life. The trees where a perfect balance of dark and light perfect for the middle kingdoms and camps. The kingdoms have divided up hundreds of years ago. There were no wars to cause this divide. It was simply because everyone had different beliefs. They started out with

As we neared the walls of the town. I saw hidden towers. I saw Patton notest them to. Both our hands rested on the daggers in there sheafs at our hips. As we neared the front gate into the village a gard was waiting there.

"State your business" The guard said like he had been saying this all day.

"We are just Wanderers. Waiting for our next adventure. We wanted to see what this village was like." Patton said smoothly not faltering for a second.

"Alright. Just don't start anything." The gard made a motion and the gate opened.

"Thank you" I said as we passed through the gate. The town was bustling with people. I saw patton already slipping into his zone. When ever we visited a town he had the skill to just belong. And anyone he was around didnt question it. It had gotten us out of more bad situations then i could count. He also had the uncanny ability to make anyone feel worth it and happy. But I was the only one to ever try and return the favor.

We turned down a street and quickly stoped in our tracks when we saw what lay ahead.

"YOU WILL DO AS I SAY!" A gruff males voice yelled over the gathering crowd.

"I answer to no one!" A small voice said. Patton was already at the front hand on dagger. When i got close to him again we saw it was and older gentleman holding the arm of a yong child.

"LET GO OF ME" The child screamed. The man then smacked it. Thats when it all went to hell.

Pattons POV

It all happened so fast. One second I was standing next to Virgil. Then I was in front of the child and pulled out my dagger holding it to the man's throat. My hood over my hair obscuring my head from the man. I had also covered my face with a mask.

"Let.Them.GO." I said. Staring at the man. My light blue eyes cut like knives into his sole. The man quickly released the child's hand. The child then ran towards Virgil who had recently came up behind me. Virgil muttered something to the child and it escaped. My cloak whipped around my legs as i heald the dagger to the mans throat.

"Why!?" I asked. The man shifted uncomfortably.

"It stole something from my cart. I don't know about where you hail from but here the price of steeling is slavery." In a quick movement the man pulled out a sord from behind him. Seemingly out of nowhere. I quickly reacted. Jumping back. I must have squeezed the handle of my dagger to hard causing the blue hart to go down. Because in two seconds flat i was holding a large sword.

The crowd gasped behind me. I heard another click and realized virgil had figured out the same thing.

"Your out numbered put the sword down. NOW." Virgil ordered. The man dropped the sword in awe. To him we where two people dressed in large cloaks masks covering our faces. Holding swords up to him i looked over to Virgil and realized his eyes where glowing. 'SH*T' I mentaly cursed myself. Then we heard the trumpets.

"ALL STAND AT ATTENTION FOR KING DEREK! AND PRINCE REMUS!" An announcer called. The crowd quickly depleted and we saw the kid we had helped standing next to a man in a yellow suit and a crown atop his head and someone looked like a crazy eyed prince.

"Fu*k" Virgl cussed.

"Language." I reminded. But he had just taken the words right out of my mouth. 'Your the one who wanted an adventure' My mind reminded me. 'And you sure as hell are about to get one.
