After what seemed like an eternity, the bell rang to signal the end of school for the week. Everyone began to file out of the classroom, casually discussing plans for the weekend with their friends, while Midoryia sat at his desk, his eyes glued to his phone. The incident this morning is all over the headlines! He thought enthusiastically as he scanned the news report about a theft that had taken place in the city earlier that day. The suspect had escaped and was now roaming the streets. I wanna hurry up and get home so I can write it in my notebook.
Just as Midoryia was putting his notebook into his bag, it was swiftly snatched out of his hands.
Bakugo towered over Midoryia, waving the notebook in front of him tauntingly. "We're not done talking yet, Deku," he growled. Midoryia looked at him despairingly, wondering why he couldn't just leave him alone for two minutes.
"G-give me back my book, Kacchan!" he said, standing up. He was sick of Bakugo treating him this way! Straightening his posture, Midoryia looked Bakugo in the face to show he wasn't backing down, his eyes filled with determination. He was finally going to stand up for himself. No longer would he tolerate his-
"'Hero Analysis for the Future'" he read mockingly. "Pathetic."
Just like that, Midoryia's fleeting moment of confidence was gone. Bakugo glared at Midoryia as he exploded the notebook and sent it flying out the open window. Midoryia watched in disbelief. "Th-that's mean, Kacchan," he stuttered. He had spent almost a year filling that book with observations about heroes! Bakugo just laughed.
"Listen here, Nerd," he spat, "Most top-string heroes have stories about them from their school days, and, since I'm a perfectionist, I don't want you to be in any of mine. So," he grabbed Midoryia's shoulder, singeing his school uniform with small explosions, and sneered at him, "don't apply to U.A., Deku."
Bakugo let go of Midoryia, shoved past him and headed for the door. When he was halfway through the exit, he turned around and said, "If you wanna be a hero that badly, there's a quick way to do it." Bakugo leered at Midoryia before continuing, "Believe that you'll be born with a quirk in your next life and take a last chance dive off the roof!"
Midoryia whipped around in shock, hurt and anger clear on his face. He wanted to say something that would wipe that horrible, smug look off Bakugo's face, wanted to make him regret what he had done to him over the years that they'd known each other. What had he done to deserve this? But... what could he do? He was Quirkless, powerless.
So Midoryia said nothing as Bakugo strolled out of the classroom, remaining silent as his awful words and actions settled in his mind, adding yet another layer of self-hatred to his heart.

Midoryia walked through the school grounds, dragging his feet whilst going over the awful things that Bakugo had said. Idiot, he thought. If I really jumped, that would mean you instigated a suicide! Think before you speak!
As he passed the pond, Midoryia noticed something floating in the water – his notebook. It was burnt and blackened from Bakugo's explosions and surrounded by fish.
"That's not fish food, stupid," he told the fish tiredly as he grabbed his destroyed notebook and pulled it out of the green water. "That's my notebook... stupid..." His face scrunched up in anger and despair as he walked home. He wouldn't let Bakugo's words affect him anymore!
His footsteps echoed lightly as he was going through the tunnel that led home, 'Hold your head up high and plunge forward!' Yes. That's what he would do. So, with a new resolve and newfound confidence in himself, Midoryia marched through the tunnel proudly, laughing just like All Might.
When he was almost to the end of the tunnel, a strange, squelching sound came from behind Midoryia, making turn around. His face paled and his stomach dropped at the sight of what was behind him, immediately regretting his decision to face what was following him. Covering the entire width of the tunnel was a mass of brownish green ooze sporting a face full of sharp teeth and eyes that screamed insanity.
A villain?! Midoryia thought in dismay while internally screaming at his legs to move, to run as far away from the dark tunnel as possible, but he was frozen. So instead of running, all he could do was watch rigidly as the slimy villain closed in on him, considering his new prey.
"A medium-sized invisibility cloak..." the sludge villain said in a gravelly voice while smiling ferociously.
The villain pounced, throwing itself onto Midoryia.
Before he could react, the sludge villain forcefully opened his jaws and shoved its slime into Midoryia's mouth. Retching and screaming, gagging on the incredibly thick substance, Midoryia tried to escape—thrashing and pulling at the sludge that was blocking his airway.
"Don't worry," the villain reassured him with remiss. "I'm just going to take over your body. Calm down. It'll only hurt for about 45 seconds. You'll feel better soon."
Eyes blurring, Midoryia's struggles became weaker. "I... can't... breathe..." he tried to say through his mouthful of ooze. Once again, he tried to grab at the gunk surrounding his mouth.
"You can't grab me!" cackled the villain. "I'm fluid! Thanks for your help. You're my hero," he added mockingly.
My body, Midoryia thought. There's... no strength. His arms fell to his sides. His head was becoming light and his chest felt as though it was about to explode. I'm dying... somebody...! Please!
Just when Midoryia thought that his life was truly about to end, a voice came from the other side of the sludge villain.
"It's alright now, young man. I am here!" they said confidently. Before Midoryia could muster any relief, the voice shouted, "Texas... SMASH!"
A huge blast of wind blew the disoriented villain away, finally freeing Midoryia from its slimy clutches. He flew through the air, only just registering the towering figure at the end of the tunnel before losing consciousness.
