Midoryia stumbled carelessly through the dark city, paying little attention to anything around him. It had been hours since his encounter with All Might, but he had not stopped moving since. Walking was the only thing that prevented Midoryia from fully succumbing to his thoughts, which were already becoming unbearable. Kacchan and the rest of his classmates had been right about him all along. If only he had given up sooner and saved himself from the crushing pain of All Might's words.
As the night wore on, the streets slowly emptied until there wasn't a soul in sight. Midoryia was alone.
Or so he thought.
Caught up in his own bubble of despair, anger, and insanity, Midoryia could barely focus on putting one foot in front of the other, let alone check for signs of danger. He didn't hear the quiet footsteps echoing around the narrow street behind him, didn't see the blur of movement in the alleyway he was passing. Because of this, Midoryia had no time to react when a shadow lunged at him from within the darkness.
Before he knew it, the dazed boy had been knocked to the ground, his arms held behind his back and his face pressed against the rough concrete. Ow, he thought with mild surprise. His emotions were in tatters and did not seem to be working correctly, so instead of fear or shock, all Midoryia could feel was annoyance.
"Hey!" he screeched while trying to struggle free of his assailant's grasp. "What the hell? I was walking there."
The man holding Midoryia's arms pulled them tighter behind his back, causing him to gasp in pain.
"What did the kid just say, Kurogiri?" a man out of Midoryia's line of sight inquired, mild amusement lacing his tone.
"He asked me why we attacked him, Tomura," the attacker replied. Kurogiri lifted Midoryia to his feet while keeping the boy in a tight arm lock.
When Midoryia saw the man called Tomura, he recoiled in shock. The man was tall and lanky with light blue hair that looked like it hadn't been washed in months, and his clothes were scruffy and ripped. But his most bizarre feature was the hands that clamped themselves over his arms, head, and face, completely obscuring all but his left eye from view.
"Well," Tomura laughed, and Midoryia noticed a hint of insanity in his voice, "We'll tell you that later, my friend. For now, you can just take a nap," he nodded to his companion, "Kurogiri."
Before he could register what the man had said, Kurogiri punched him straight in the temple, causing an explosion of pain to flash through Midoryia's skull. Immediately, his eyes began to blur, and his body sagged before his vision slowly faded to black.

Midoryia awoke with a gasp, his head throbbing horribly. He was tied to a chair, his arms awkwardly pinned behind his back and his ankles bound to the chair legs. Disoriented, Midoryia struggled in his bindings, giving himself rope burn in the process. He looked frantically around the dark room and froze.
The two men that had abducted him, Tomura and Kurogiri, were sitting at what seemed to be an old bar. Midoryia had not had the chance to get a good look at Kurogiri beforehand, and although it was the norm for people to have odd features as a result of their Quirks, he was still unsettled by the man's appearance. Instead of a head, Kurogiri had a swirling mass of dark purple matter with yellow slits for eyes that was supported by a metal neck brace. His hands also appeared to be made of the odd substance.
The two men paused their conversation and turned to face Midoryia. "Oh, good!" said Tomura with false sincerity, "You're awake! I was starting to think Kurogiri had hit you too in the head too hard."
Midoryia, who was regaining some of his composure, rolled his eyes at the older man's tone. "Yeah, I'm just so lucky to be here," he said sarcastically. He had already been having a bad day, but this was ridiculous. He had been told to kill himself, attacked by a monster made of slime, stripped of his hopes and dreams, and then kidnapped?! How could someone be so unlucky?
