Walking into the house we were greeted by the frenzy of dinner time. Xander had gone back to school so it was just Brayden, Michael, Oli, Cal ,and I. That may sound like a lot but for us that's pretty good. We all grabbed a plate and headed in different directions. Cal and I decided to join Oliver and Michael playing video games. Or more like watching. The minute Michael looked at me when we came in from outside he refused to let me near any of the controllers. He claimed I'd taint their purity. He's an idiot but he's our idiot. Dinner was amazing and finished in a matter of 15 minutes. I grabbed the boys plates before turning to head downstairs.
'Need a hand?' Cal asked. I wanted to laugh but I knew he was sincere. The boy was lit. The minute we got inside that was it. 'All good. I got it bub.' I laughed before heading downstairs.
'So spill it.' Mom said taking the dishes from me.
'Spill what?' I questioned placing the rinsed dishes into the dishwasher.
'Jaymes I've known you 20 years of your life. In those you've had multiple crushes and two serious boyfriends. I know when you're crushing.'
'Fair enough.' I nodded. 'He's cute. I like him. But I still barley know him.' She nodded pouring herself a glass of wine.
'Well if you ask me he definitely is cute. I give it a month before it's official.'
'A month?!' 'What can I say I ship it.' My mom shrugged laughing.
'Please don't ever say that you ship it. That's like rooting for a your favorite couple on a tv show.'
'Exactly. OTP.' I shook my head
'Enjoying your time off?'
'As much as I can. Show is still set for November 18 though.'
'That's coming up soon!' She nodded. She didn't seem worried. My mom was always able to create masterpieces in limited time frames. 'Cat will be home to walk with you. Everything should be fine.' Ever since we were younger me and Vat would walk in all my moms opening shows. A tradition; and what my mom says ensures a successful launch.
'I should get going' Calum interrupted walking into the kitchen. If I wasn't still a little up there I'd be more worried if he had heard any part of our conversation. I nodded.
'I'll walk ya out.' He nodded before thanking my mom for dinner and heading to the front door.
'So see you tomorrow? Or should I expect another text for a different breakfast adventure tomorrow morning?' He asked jokingly.
'I guess I have to go to at least 1 morning  class this week. So we shall see.' I smiled as he opened his car door leaning slightly against it.
'Then we shall. Until next time.' He said giving me another one of his smiles eyes crinkling at the corners.
'Until next time.' I nodded before turning to go back inside. 'Text when you get home so I know you didn't die'
'Will do.' He chuckled before pulling out of the driveway.
~
'So did you kiss him?' Oliver asked eyes still glued on the tv playing his video game.
'Of course not. I've known the kid less than twenty four hours.' I shook my head.
'Oh please like you wouldn't have. I can tell you wanted to the minute you laid eyes on him.'
'That's a loaded statement.'
'I'm your twin. Obviously I'd know these things.' He smiled cockily. Annoying ass. I chose to ignore his comment going upstairs  to my bedroom to begin my homework before I completely stopped caring. The only thing I had due tonight was a one page paper in abnormal psych. My favorite subject may I add. Changing into pajama pants and a tank top I sat down on my bed with my laptop. Before even typing my name I was interrupted by a FaceTime call from my sister.
'Bitchhhhh.' She started the minute I answered. That's how I knew it was about to go down. Her caramel face lighting up the screen as she grinned widely. She looks exactly like our mom just a younger version. Explains why she is following almost exactly in her footsteps too. Catherine is my favorite person in the world. She is unapologetically herself and I admire her for it.
'You better start spilling hoe.'
'Ok so guess who finds out the internship recipients four days earlier then everyone else?!'
'How?' 'Mom talked to Vera and she said she'll let us know when she finds out. Which is tomorrow.' She squealed happily. My sister had applied to for a lot of fashion internships over the summer being she's almost finished with college. The main one she wanted was to work for our family friend Vera Wang. Of course she wasn't just going to be handed the position due to friendship; but Cat was the best of the best. Top of her class high school and college, gorgeous, and amazing at creating things. She'd be perfect regardless.
'That's great babes. You'll definitely be one of the chosen ones.' She smiled
'Hopefully...but not the real reason for my call. Isaac asked me to marry him.'
'Did you say yes?' She shook her head. 'Why not?!' Since senior year of high school they've been together. She had a crush on him for two years before he even asked her out.
'Well I didn't say no. I told him to let me think about it.'
'Every mans dream.'
'Jaymes.' She laughed slightly shaking her head. 'I just thought we'd wait until after we graduated.'
'Why?' 'I don't know. I just thought we'd be more put together you know?'
'I guess. But you both know you love each other. What's one more year? And anyways just because you get the ring doesn't mean it has to be immediate. You can do everything at your own pace. It's your life.' She nodded.
'You're right. Then I owe him a good ass answer in an epic way. So what about you? Anything new?'
'Not really.'
'You sure? Oli said you crushing on a Dads boss's son.' I repeat annoying ass.
'I wouldn't say crushing. I think he's nice and he's got the looks; but I barely know him.'
'I get that. Don't be afraid to take a chance though especially if you think it's worth it.'
'How do I know if it's worth it?' I asked as my laptop and phone binged indicating I had a text message from none other than Calum himself.
'It's worth it. I can tell based simply off the face you just made. I'm assuming he just texted you.' Yeah she's good like that. I nodded. 'Take the risk. If it goes bad then I owe you one.' I'll take that. Having Catherine in your debt always plays to be helpful in life. 'Now go answer ya mans. I'll talk to you tomorrow J.' I smiled before we said goodbye and hung up. Ok take a risk I can do that.
Calum: I survived the journey home
Jaymes: took u long enough I was about to text you.
Calum: my b I forgot.
Jaymes: wowww
Jaymes: bet I'll remember how forgettable I am ☹️
Calum: not what I meant. I was fried. I forgot I got in the shower and thought it was raining in my house😅
Jaymes: lmaoooo what can I say weed is a hard drug
Calum: it is a gateway. Ur a bad influence.
Jaymes: guess you bring out the worst in me 🤷🏾‍♀️
Jaymes: now do ur hw before I'm the reason ur failing
Calum: touchè but ttyl J
Jaymes: ttyl
I read through our text conversation. The whole thing lasted  about ten minutes but who knows. A lot can come from a conversation.
