"And she kind of just believed me," I finished with a shrug.
"Well shit." Henry said. "That was a dangerously close one."
I nodded in agreement, not knowing what else to add.
"Why did she want to talk to you?" Monica asked.
"My parents were home. Apparently, she'd been knocking on my door, but I didn't hear her."
"Be glad that she believed you." Angelica said. "It would have been terrible if she hadn't."
"It's not like I could explain any of this," I waved my hands through the spiritual energy around me, "to her. She definitely wouldn't have believed me."
"It's not just that." Angelica leaned against the railings. It was early in the morning, with all four of us standing on the second floor of the school building. "Shamans take this sort of stuff seriously. If she even got a bit suspicious then they'd definitely wipe her mind."
I paled as much as my light brown skin would allow and looked at her. "Seriously? You can do that?"
"Well, don't worry about it." Monica put a hand on my shoulder and gave me a smile. "That didn't happen."
"True." Henry agreed. "But you should be a little more careful. If you're going to do stuff like that at least invite me along with."
"Henry, stop being weird." Monica chided him.
"It's not weird, it's for my research." He raised his notepad, which he had been jotting down notes in this whole time.
"And your research is weird."
"I can't become the greatest Spectrologist in the world if I don't start out young."
"You want to be a Spectrologist?" I asked, saying the word slowly to make sure I got it right.
He nodded vigorously. "Not just that, I want to be the greatest Spectrologist in the world." His eyes suddenly widened, and excitement overflowed from his soul. "Speaking of, you will not believe the news I have!"
"What is it?" Angelica asked.
He licked his lips and held his breath, clearly building up anticipation as we all waited for him.
"Well?" Monica asked as he started to speak.
"The Dr Alejandro Dos Santos is in our town!" He then scowled at Monica. "Great. You ruined it."
"You're kidding. Seriously?" Angelica asked, sounding genuinely shocked.
I frowned and looked at her. "Who's he?"
"He is, without a doubt, the greatest Spectrologist in the entire world!" Henry said, a little too excitedly, making Angelica shush him. "Sorry. But seriously, he is the best in the world."
"He's also Henry's crush." Monica added.
"He's not my crush." Henry said, now blushing. "I just respect him as a Spectrologist."
"But why is he here?" Angelica asked him.
"I don't know." He shrugged. "But I think we can take a pretty good guess" He then pointed at me.
"Wait, he's here for me?" I asked.
"It makes sense." Henry said. "You're any Spectrologist's wet dream, especially for someone like the Dr Alejandro Dos Santos."
