Dancing.
That's what they did, the snowflakes. Soft iced water that fell gracefully from the sky, a grey sky as clouds covered the sun. Winter had always been beautiful- beautiful and had a sense of freedom from reality.
Reality wasn't always beautiful, it was like a snowstorm, a blizzard. Reality could be harmful as some people can't handle the truth. The truth could go many ways, from griefing to acceptance, or it could lead to insanity. Sometimes people are just too young to understand the truth. Too young to understand what is happening around them.
Sometimes young children have to learn the hard way.
There was a soft whoosh as a young girl- no older than ten skated across a frozen lake. She took a deep breath as her wavy red hair swayed against the wind blasting against her face. This girl was going to do it, or at least she was going to attempt to do it.
The corner of the lake came close as she took another deep breath and closed her eyes. She leaped into the air and managed to do half a twirl before landing on the icy ground once more, she gave a smile, satisfied with what she had been able to do.
The young girl didn't even realize how long she had been practicing for, too busy feeling accomplished with the improvement she had made during the time. She skated around the lake once more.
The lake wasn't that small, but it wasn't as large as those famous great lakes that she learned at school. The lake was just large enough for her to practice ice skating, something that the girl was happy about. Not only that, but her family had acres of land so she had a lot of room to just run around. She just loved to ice skate more.
"Mira!" A voice called out to the girl, it sounded mature and soft. Motherly like, "Dinner is ready," The voice informed the girl- Mira.
"Coming ma," Mira told her mom as she quickly stepped off of the lake, she carefully waddled her way to the house as she forgot to bring an extra pair of shoes out.
The house her family was nice. Made of red bricks while also having a modern vibe to it. It was two stories, plus both an attic and basement so it was fairly large. Enough to fit a large family, yet her family was somewhat small.
The young girl finally walked into the house and was greeted by the smell of burning fire. This was home, her warm and cozy home. It gave the feeling of protection, somewhere where she could relax on the couch with hot chocolate in her hand as she chats with her family. It was a nice feeling.
"Mira! Mira!" The young boy exclaimed as he grabbed her hand. Mira had placed her skates on the side as she was soon dragged by her younger brother to the living room. "Saint Nicholas is coming tonight!", The young boy cheered, clear excitement in his voice. He even began to jump up and down as he gave his sister a large smile. "I can't wait for tomorrow!"
"Remember Noah, Saint Nick doesn't only give out presents," Mira reminded her younger brother, who jokingly stuck out his tongue at her. " He also gives coal to children who misbehave," She added, the girl soon began to tickle her younger brother.
The boy only laughed as he tried to pry his sister off of him, "No stooop," He whined throughout his laughter. Noah was only four years younger than Mira, yet that didn't stop the young boy from teasing and sassing his older siblings.
Mira stopped tickling him once someone else had entered the room, it was her older brother.
"What are you two goofballs laughing about?" Their brother asked the two, you could see how he had the urge to smile at them.
"Nothing Issac," Mira replied to her older brother. She rolled her eyes as Issac scoffed at her.
"Anyways, mom wanted me to get you, again."
