Dominic held the receiver while Scorpius dialed the numbers. It took a few tries, but Nolan's voice finally came through.
"There you are," Nolan said. "I've been worried sick!"
"Nolan," Dominic said quickly. "It's Dominic, Maggie's gone missing and we need to figure out a way to track her."
"Excuse me, WHAT?" Nolan yelled.
"She was kidnapped by death eaters and we don't know where they took her," Dominic explained. "Do you have any idea how we can track her down?"
"Is... is that why I got a cryptic text from her that implied she was going to commit suicide?" Nolan asked nervously. "She never replied to my texts. I've been calling her all day."
"That was definitely not her," Dominic panicked. "They're trying to cover it up and make it look like a suicide!"
"Oh my god," Nolan muttered. "What are we going to do? Can I come there and help find her? I can't just sit back and let this happen!"
"If there was a way to get you here in time, I'd suggest it, but I think she'll be dead by the time you get here."
"That's not true, there's just no legal way for me to get there," Nolan said. "I could apparate. I don't have a license, but I'm good at it. I'll probably get fined, but if it means we save her, then it'll be worth it."
"You can't apparate from Hogwarts," Dominic reminded him.
"It's a ten minute run to Hogsmeade," Nolan said. "So, I'll be there in eleven minutes I guess."
"Hurry," Dominic said. "I don't know how much time we have."
"I'll be there," Nolan said, then hung up.
Dominic looked up at Scorpius and put the receiver back on its stand. "Nolan's coming to help find her."
"Is he good at finding people?" Scorpius asked.
"I don't know," Dominic said. "But he loves Maggie more than anyone else on earth and he'll give his own life before he lets anyone touch hers."
Draco walked into the study anxiously. "Did you reach him?" Draco asked.
"Yes, he's coming here to help in person," Dominic reported.
"There's no way he'll get here before midnight!" Draco said.
"He's not taking the train," Dominic said. "He's going to apparate here."
"Oh good," Draco said sarcastically, "I can save myself a trip to Ministry to report Maggie missing and just tell them when they come to put the boy back together!"
"He says he's good at it," Dominic said. "And he's concentrated on getting Maggie back. He'll get here somehow."
Within fifteen minutes, a tall, brown-haired boy appeared on the doorstep of Malfoy Manor.
"Are some of her things here?" Nolan asked them as soon as he saw them, still panting from his dash to Hogsmeade.
"Unless they were taken," Dominic said, "they're up in our room."
"Show me," Nolan said.
The boys ran up the stairs to the room Dominic and Maggie had stayed in the night before. Sure enough, her things were still on the dresser. Nolan went through Maggie's things like a madman. After all of Maggie's things had been thrown on the floor he rested himself against the bed post and said, "thank Merlin it's not here."
"What's not here?"
"Her ring," Nolan said. "I checked her dorm too, it's not there either. That means she still has it on and we can use it to track her." Nolan pulled a thin chain around his neck out of his shirt and showed Dominic the blue cresent moon charm on the end of the long chain. "Her ring and this necklace were cut from the same gemstone. That means I can hex the necklace to find its other half and it will lead us to Maggie's ring which she hopefully still has on her."
