The Quidditch field had a thin layer of ice covering it by late March, but luckily, the sport is played in the air.

The four Hogwarts House Quidditch teams got together to create the ultimate team to beat the staff and defend the school. Allen Goodson was the captain and hand selected the perfect team.

The staff's team formation was much less intense and competitive. Only four professors actually wanted to play, the others were volunteers talked into doing it by their colleagues.

For once, the entire school showed up to a Quidditch match. The stands were packed with students supporting their favourite players and favourite professors. Professor Longbottom was the commentator, along with the usual student commentator Tony Jordan.

"Welcome everyone to the annual Teachers versus Students Quidditch match," Professor Longbottom announced. "Before the game starts, we're going to announce our two teams."

"First, on the students team," Tony said. "Allen Goodson from Gryffindor is their captain and chaser. Logan Brooks from Gryffindor and Brooke Reyes from Slytherin are the other chasers. Stephen Knight from Ravenclaw and Braden Slates from Slytherin are the beaters. Jane Stewart from Hufflepuff is the keeper. And Maggie Finnigan-Thomas from Ravenclaw is the seeker."

The students erupted in cheers as the student team, dressed in all white uniforms, walked out onto the field.

"The staff team is much younger this year," Professor Longbottom said. "Derek Davey, Professor of History of Magic and former Gryffindor, is this year's captain and keeper. Morris Fach, Professor of Arithmancy and former Ravenclaw, and Braden Kendrick, Professor of Muggle Studies and Muggle Music and former Gryffindor, are the beaters. Naomi Owens, Professor of the Study of Ancient Ruins and former Hufflepuff, Bella Todd, Professor of Art and former Hufflepuff, and Timothy Wilkinsons, the Professor of Apparition and former Gryffindor, are this year's chasers. And Clara Lawson, Professor of Ghoul Studies and Magic Theory and former Ravenclaw, is the seeker. Surprisingly, everyone on the staff team is under the age of thirty, giving the students a real run for their money."

"My money is still on the students, Professor," Tony laughed.

The teachers, wearing all black uniforms came out to the field. The other staff and students cheered.

Madam Hooch appeared with the Quidditch chest and had Allen and Professor Davey shake hands.

"Good luck," they said to each other.

The match started and streaks of black and white flew through the air.

"Students Brooke and Logan make passes for the Quaffle-- TEN POINTS TO THE STUDENT TEAM," Tony commentated. "Todd and Wilkinsons approach the student-- ah blocked by Jane Stewart, who is looking very fine this evening, is that a new haircut?"

"JORDAN!" McGonagall yelled from behind him.

"I'm just commentating!" Jordan defended himself.

"Focus on Quidditch!" McGonagall warned him. She leaned over to Professor Cross and said, "I knew when Lee's son stepped onto these grounds five years ago, it'd start all over again!"

A golden light whizzed past the stands, followed by Maggie, then Professor Lawson.

The students now had seventy points and the teachers had sixty. The chasers, beater, and keepers stayed at a stalemate for a long time. Every attempt at the three hoops got blocked by Davey or Jane.

Maggie and Lawson flew through the field and stands, neck and neck. The score was now one hundred to eighty. The students were still winning.

Maggie soared through the fields, circling the stands until she found a glimmer of gold. Suddenly, Lawson and Maggie and shot off in the same direction. The crowd started screaming for their seeker, hoping they'd get it. Both women reach out at the same time. Maggie felt a sharp, excruciating pain in the back of her head that nearly knocked her off her broom, but she managed to catch the snitch first.
