"Are you sure you're feeling up to this?" Allen asked Martha, who was now nine months pregnant and sitting in the same chair she had been for a week.
"I'll be fine," Martha said. "And I haven't seen anyone in weeks. I'm dying to see them."
"I just don't want you to exhaust yourself with a dinner party," Allen said. "You need rest."
"I'm not expecting to play Quidditch at the dinner table," Martha laughed. "I just want a nice evening with our friends."
"But you'll tell me when you feel tired?"
"I promise I will," Martha replied.
Allen had learned to cook just for their dinner party. He made the classic Sunday roast his mother made growing up. And while Allen still hadn't spoken to his mother since the night he told her about the baby, he knew she'd be proud of his new skills.
Maggie and Nolan arrived at five with a chocolate cake Nolan had made earlier that day.
"Oh shit that's what I forgot!" Allen said when he saw the cake. "I forgot dessert! Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome," Nolan laughed. "We were going to bring wine, but we thought it'd be rude since Martha couldn't drink it. So I made a chocolate cake instead."
"Bless you," Allen said and took the cake into the kitchen.
"Look at you!" Maggie said to Martha. "You're about to pop."
"I know," Martha said. "I'm anxious to have the babies but at the same time I feel just as terrified as I did at the beginning."
"It's going to be great!" Maggie told her. "You're going to be the best mum, and I'm going to the best aunt."
"Can you do something for me?" Martha requested.
"Of course!"
"Can you look into the future and tell me when the babies are coming?" Martha asked. "Not knowing when it's going to happen is killing me."
"I can try," Maggie said.
Maggie knelt down and rested her hand on Martha's stomach.
After five minutes, Maggie pulled her hand away and looked up at Martha. "I couldn't find anything about the day they're born, but I did see a day about four years in the future. Allen gets a job promotion and the four of you go on holiday to Disney in France to celebrate. You guys have a lot of fun together."
"Thank you for trying," Martha said.
Allen had Nolan in the kitchen helping finish dinner up.
"What did this use to be?" Nolan asked as he looked at a pot of orange mush.
"They're sweet potatoes," Allen said slowly. "Is something wrong with them?"
"Uhh..." Nolan looked at them again, "no..."
"I made them for you and Maggie because you don't eat meat," Allen said. "Should I make them again?"
"You know what?" Nolan said. "I'll make them again. I know how she likes them."
"I'm sorry, mate, I'm not good at this," Allen mumbled.
"Do not be sorry for going out of your way to be considerate," Nolan told him. "I appreciate it a lot that you tried something new to accommodate our diet."
"Thank you, I needed a little encouragement," Allen mumbled.
"Is everything alright?" Nolan asked.
