Rico's POV
I wake up and prepare myself for what is about to come. I look over at Rose who is peacefully sleeping next to me and remind myself it is for her and the gang. I also remind myself that I probably will have nothing to bond with her over. We are adopting a girl because Rose has always wanted a daughter. I told Rose the plan last night and she was excited but she couldn't go to the orphanage with me since she had something to do.
Jace and Josh are already in the car when I go outside. I just roll my eyes at how excited they are.
It was a short drive since the orphanage is only 20 minutes away. When we pull up we go inside and try to find the person in charge. I quickly spot her in the sea of children and she notices we are there. She walks over to us out of breath "Hello, my name is Kimberly and I am the caretaker here. I am assuming you gentlemen would like to adopt?"
"Yes, we are looking to adopt a girl between the ages 11-14."
"Ok let me call them down, for now why don't you have a seat over there." She pointed to a couch in the corner of the room. We walk over there and wait.
I wanted an older girl because they are easier to train for becoming leader and all they do is sit on their phones.

Little did I know I was completely
wrong....

Before I could think about anything else Kimberly who I could tell really loved what she does came over to us "I have all of the girls from 11-14, which is 13 girls, all lined up in the great room." We walk behind her as we go down a narrow hallway and end up in a giant room. I look over all of them and notice they are almost all in dresses and if they aren't they are in nice clothing, there hair is all done and they are all smiling which I must say is creeping me out a bit. Jace which is the smarter twin and deals with the computers and drugs whispers in my ear that there is a girl missing. I quickly count and realize he is right. There is only 12 and there is supposed to be 13. I bring this to Kimberly's attention and she seems hesitant at first but then says "yes one of the girls does not like to come down for adoption day." I am confused by that because isn't that what they want, to be adopted.
I tell her to call her down and she seems reluctant but I send her a glare and she quickly does as I asked. I am curious as to why she didn't want to call the last girl down. I here footsteps and I see a girl with black hair walk in. The twins and I share a look, we were shocked. She wasn't like the rest of the girls. She wasn't in fancy clothes and she wasn't trying to act sweet.  (Outfit above)
Her face held no emotion which would honestly scare off a normal person and her eyes were a bright icy blue and they were honestly beautiful.  She had on almost all black and I noticed her knuckles were bruised up. I just brushed it off as nothing when Kimberly told the girls to say their name, age, and something about themselves. I glance over at the mystery girl and she looks like she would rather be anywhere but in this room. I realize I haven't been listening to anyone that was talking when it gets to the mystery girl she says "my name is Ivy Black, I am 14, and I like cars." I was shocked that she liked cars and I could tell that wasn't all she wanted to say. I told them all my name and information of course the name was the same fake one I gave Kimberly and I just told the twins first name. I introduced them as my cousins though. " my name is Tyler Baker, I am 26, and these are my cousins Josh and Jace." They give a small wave but don't really look that interested. I looked over at the mystery girl, who's name I now learned was Ivy, and she didn't look like she believed me. I didn't think I would find a child that interested me but Ivy made me curious and I wanted to know more about her. Kimberly dismisses the girls and we followed her to her office. As we walked to her office I whispered to the twins "her eyes are the eyes of someone who has been through a lot and seen a lot. I can tell she doesn't back down easy." They nod in agreement and say they noticed her eyes as well.
We walk into the office and sit on the chairs. I ask Kimberly to tell us more about Ivy and her eyes lit up. I can tell that Ivy is secretly her favorite. "Well she has been adopted 9 times."
I ask her "Why did she not stay in any of those homes?"
Kimberly look upset and went on to explain that all of those foster homes were abusive and that is one of the reasons Ivy doesn't trust people. She also tells us that Ivy comes home in the middle of the night all bloody and bruised up a lot, but she refuses help and stiches herself up when needed. We were all shocked and look at her with wide eyes. I realized that Ivy has been through a lot and is stronger then we all think she is. Kimberly told us that Ivy works at a garage down the road and she absolutely loves it. She asked me not to take the little bit of happiness that Ivy has away from her. I agree and say that I have chosen to adopt Ivy. I sign the papers and we wait by the door as Kimberly calls Ivy down. Kimberly reminds us that Ivy will take a long time to trust us and if we do one tiny thing to break it that it will be even harder to gain back. She comes down carrying two bags and I am surprised that she has that little of stuff. She sets it down and gives Kimberly a hug. Kimberly whispers something in her ear and she looked confused before turning around. I then realized that there was a boy behind her that looked about 16 years old. She runs to him and gives him a huge hug, I notice that she has a huge smile on her face and this is the first time I have seen her smile. Any other time she has a poker face on. He says something to her and I can tell they are extremely close as they do a handshake. Kimberly must have seen our confused faces and she walks over to us. "That is Nate, they have been best friends since they were about 6 years old. He is the only person that can calm her down when she gets mad or upset and he is the only person one that can make her smile and laugh. In a way he helps her fight her demons."
At that moment Ivy walks over to us and give Kimberly one more hug. The tears in Kimberly's eyes also don't go unnoticed by me. Josh, who handles the weapons and cars in the gang, put her bags in the truck and we get in the car. I get in the passenger seat with Josh driving and Jace in the back with Ivy who now has her poker face back on.

Ivy's POV
I am up in my room listening to music when I hear Miss K call down all girls from 11-14. I know that if she wanted me she would call me down so I ignore it. About 15 minutes I hear her call me down, I walk downstairs to the great room and am shocked when I walk in to see Rico Daniels, the leader of the Fallen Angels gang and his 2 second in commanded, Josh and Jace Thomas. Miss K tells us to tell them our name, age, and something we like. Just like every other time when it gets to my turn I emotionlessly say "My name is Ivy Black, I am 14, and I like cars. I notice Josh raise his eyebrows but then remember he also deals with cars a lot. Rico then gives his information and says his name is Tyler Baker and says the twins are his cousins. I try hard not to laugh. We get dismissed and they follow Miss K into her office. I go back upstairs and continue listening to my music. Miss K tells me to pack my bags and come down. I quickly grab my two suit cases from underneath my bed and stuff my minimal belongings in them. One is filled with my stuff and the other is filled with my fighting gear and my weapons. I go down stairs and they are standing by the door. I put my bags down and give Miss K a hug, she whispers in my ear "turn around" I am confused but do as she says. When I turn around I see Nate standing behind me. I run and give him a big hug. He is the only person who makes me feel safe and happy. I only smile and laugh when I am with him because I trust him. He is literally my life saver, he can calm me down when I get angry and he helps me with my awful memories of the foster homes I went to.
He says "good luck out there" we do our secret hand shake and I give him one last hug he promised me that we would keep in touch and if we didn't see each other until he gets out that he will come find me. I give him one last hug and go to the door. I give Miss K one last hug as well and walk out the door with Tyler, or should I say Rico. Josh puts my bag in the trunk and gets in the drivers seat. Rico is in the passenger seat and Jace is in the back with me. All I think is how my life just changed drastically in and hour.
