It was going on Eleven at night and Meona was still up on her laptop working on her new ideas for her new designs. School was out for the today so it was nothing to stay up and get some work done.
Everyone else in the house had been sleep since earlier, even Jamel was knocked out laid across her legs while she sat downstairs in the living room. Trina and Sam slept peacefully in the king size bed, cuddled in each other's arms until Sam's phone began to ring on the night stand beside him. Stirring in his sleep, he leaned over and saw that it was not only late, but Vicky had called his phone for the second time.
"Hello" he said in a sleep voice as she rubbed at his eyes. The sobbing in the phone caused him to jump up now alerted and aware "What's going on Vicky... is Sade okay"?
When Trina heard him say is Sade okay, she opened her eyes and looked around.
"No Sam... something is wrong she passed out... Sam I don't know what's wrong with my baby... you need to get here quick " she cried harder in the phone. Now fully awoke, Sam jumped out of bed and rushed to put on his night pants and tee shirt "Is everything okay babe"? Trina asked.
"No honey Sade is in the hospital ... I'm on the phone with Vicky now" he said sliding in his slippers and rushing out the room. When Those words left his mouth Trina jumped up, ran to her closet and threw on a pair Jean's and sweater.
She rushed in their bathroom and quickly did her hygiene as her heart thumped in her chest. Even though Sade was her biological daughter she still loved her as her own. Multiple occasions she had been around the child with Vicky and Sam and she grew a loveable bond with her.
Once she came out the bathroom Sam was coming back inside now fully dressed in a pair of sweats and a jacket  ready to go. "I just booked our flights, she just texted me the address to the hospital" he said all in one with shaking hands.
Trina noticed how nervous he was and rushed over to husband "It's okay honey ... everything is gonna be okay". She hugged him for a second to calm his nerves down before they grabbed their already pack suitcase and rushing out their bedroom.
Meona and Jamel was standing in the kitchen talking when she saw her parents came walking in, in a hurry. The look on her father's face not only confused her but let know that something was terribly wrong. "Wassup where you guys going"? She asked coming around the island and walking up closer to them.
She noticed the suitcase in Samuel's hand so she knew they weren't coming back for at least a couple days.
Trina pulled Meona in a hug before walking over and hugging Jamel "Something important came up at your father's office that involves him leaving town so we'll call you and let you know how long we'll be gone" trina told her.
"You good"? Jamel asked Samuel in a low voice as they stood side by side while Trina and Meona talked. The look on Samuel face was really bothering, it was like he was standing there stuck. "Umm... yeah yeah I good just some stuff happened at work and I gotta go handle it. Take care of my babygirl for me while I'm gone" Samuel said snapping out his daze. He pound fist with Jamel and walked over to kiss Meona on her forehead. "You sure your good dad you dont look Ok"?
He nodded his head "Daddy's good baby... I'll call you" he said before nodding his head at Trina. They said their goodbyes and headed for the front door, gone within seconds.
Jamel could tell it was something knew Samuel was hiding something, but what he didn't know. He was very street smart and Wise and even though Samuel wasn't in the streets like he was before he became an sucess businessman, Jamel knew something wasn't adding up. Once they heard the car back out the driveway and away, he turned and looked at Meona who was leaned against the counter with her hands holding up her face. Her face held a ounce of stress, confusion and her eyes looked so tired.
"What's wrong babe"?
She looked up at him with as a small smile formed on her face "I'm just tired".  "You ready to go upstairs"? He asked, going in the refrigerator for something to drink. She nodded her head as she looked away from him in deep thought all of a sudden "What you thinking about"? He asked.
She looked back him and bite down on her bottom lip "Jamel what do you do"?
He took a sip of his water "I play ball baby what do you mean".  "I know that but I mean what do you do other than ball"?  "Babe I'm a ball player stop playing you know what I do".
She chuckled and shook her head "Do you sell drugs"? He took a few more sips but when she blurted that out he froze and looked over at her "Fuck you mean... who told you that"?
"Nobody told me... I just heard".  "I don't wanna have this conversation with you meme" he said, avoiding eye contact.
"Do you sell drugs Jamel... are you what they call the drug lord of the streets or something. Is this why everyone respects you so much"? She asked with her hand on her hip, waiting for him to tell the truth.
"Why does it matter meme, let's just go to sleep".  "Ummm... so I take that as a yes" she said licking her bottom lip with her brows frowned up. "Why does it matter meme"? He asked again feeling like he was being put on spot about his business and this was uncomfortable  for him.
"Because I've been your best friend for years and I never knew that side of you  at all".
"Well now your my girl and dont really feel like talking about this right now" he said brushing the conversation off as he took his shirt off, revealing his tatted up chest and stomach.
"So and that makes it better... we never hide shit from each other... we starting now" she asked shifting all her weight to one side.
Jamel shook his head as he Clench his jaw it took everything not to lose his cool because even though he told her he didn't wanna discuss this she wasn't trying to drop the conversation.
Jamel was born and raised in the drug game, Stevie had been in the game growing up so when Jamel became of age he taught his only son everything he knew. Not only was Jamel Smart and on his game about the street but stevie taught him so good that he became in charge of everyone of the workers older and younger. Their drug organization was  one of the biggest organizations in the city, Stevie ran the whole organization then it was Houston who was second in charge and under them was Jamel who was in charge.
"Fuck it don't tell me than" she said throwing her hand up as she walked pass him to leave the kitchen. He gently grabbed her arm and pulled her back "Come here babe chill".
Meona huffed "Then tell me the truth" she said in a soft voice.
"Yeah I do yo". He admitted, taking a deep breath. This was just something he just didn't wanna admit to his girl.
"Why didn't you tell me"?  Jamel shoved his shoulder and raised his eye brow "Never felt the need, plus I didn't need you judging or worried about me".
She started cracking up when he said that "For real Jamel... when the fuck have I ever judged you beside the females you dealt with... far as me worrying about you you got a point but judging you... No" she said laughing so hard she had to hold her stomach.
"Yeah real fucking funny" he said imitating her laugh.  "Awe I'm sorry baby.. " she paused while still laughing "I'm sorry your just funny as shit. Don't ever make up an excuse like that again".  "Oh you funny" he said, grabbing her, tickling her. "Let me go Jamel... stop fucking playin' "she laughed as she broke away from him. "You play to damn much you know I hate being tickled".
" Ah shut up cry baby" he said picking her as she wrapped her legs around his waist. She rubbed his face and peaked his lips "I love you no matter what".  "I love you to meme".
