So this is actually the first free verse poem I made. Just a while ago this morning.

They had built towering pillars.
Pillars that shone vibrant and blinding light.
Such radiance was vital to its purpose: to burn and chase away any darkness that dared threaten to knock them down and stop them from holding up the precious dreams and hopes that gave life purpose.
But, as amazing and divine as these pillars were... they were not impervious to everything.
Under the earth from which they had stood, there was a gaping and empty void that starved for the brilliance and vitality, energies, that these pillars radiated from the surface.
It was an abysmal chasm from which a dark mist of despair arose from. And as it slowly poisoned the ground above it, the earth that the pillars stood on began to blight. Decaying and losing its quality to remain concrete over time.
Over time, this chaotic and evil mist, ate away the piece of land the pillars had stood on. Once great and filled with life from the energies these pillars gave off, the land around it had withered away. It had become hallow and empty inside like the void from which its hungry tendrils of darkness had chipped away at it.
Then, with one last bite, the earth that had sustained the pillars on it, had failed to sustain itself. It caved in under the hallow space that for so long it had resisted to fall into. Of course, the pillars came crashing down along with it. And along with them, so did the dreams and hopes it had supported for so long.
In that moment of time, one could see the horrid face of the empty and bottomless void that had waited for the light above it to collapse and fall into its gaping and waiting mouth as it readied to devour everything that it represented.
Light, Hope, Dreams, Love, Determination, and even the beauty of Life were all just under the list of things it feasted on upon that fateful day where its hunger was quenched albeit for only just that moment in time.
