I sit at the bar drumming my fingers and listening to the usual hum of the barflies looking for warmth as the sun begins to set. I'm done with my daily chores and the guests are being tended to by Phyllis and William. As of right now, Catherine is out in town getting food and whatnot so it's not mandatory that I act as an active part of the crew.

Violet walks out of the kitchen and spreads her arms out across the bar lazily, looking up at me with a wink. "Well hello there, missy. Wot's a fine lookin' thing like yisself doin' here all by your lonesome?"

I laugh and brush some of my hair out of my face "Well, maybe I'm not by myself. My husband could be outside in the loo."

"Oo-rr,"  Violet leans in closer to my face and wiggles her eyebrows. "He's upstairs plotting with other Englishmen."

I swat her arms off the bar and scoff as she struggles to steady herself upright "You are never letting that go, now are you?" I laugh "Lord, in no way, shape, or form would I ever be caught dead near that man in such a way."

Violet maneuvers herself to my side of the bar and smiles up at me "Iunno, you guys can't seem to keep your eyes off each other. At least, he can't anyway."

I roll my eyes and stand up, taking my cloak off of the bar and wrapping it around my shoulders. "Whatever. Are you ready Vie? It's getting dark and I really don't want to get lost tonight..."

Violet links arms with me and walks towards the door " Relax sister of mine, you're in good hands with Miss Violet Mon-Bennett."

We step into the cold air and make our way down the street, a few townspeople are still meandering about even though the temperature has dropped these past few hours. I smile at a woman passing by but she's so intrigued by the man she is with, that she doesn't see me. He looks twice her age and is wearing clothes that seem to be very fine and expensive compared to the simple dress she has on.

"Ew, god, you just stepped in horse shit Jules! Pay attention to where you're fucking walking, ugh." Violet scrunches her nose at me and picks up her skirt. "Some people have no class."

I laugh and nudge her, picking our pace up to a brisk walk. "Class, you say? I must say I'm insulted, Miss Bennett. Who is the one Grandmaster Kenway seems to be more interested in?"

"He's just shocked that so much...un-classieness could be stuffed into one person." She waves her hand in the air lazily "He's more than likely disgusted, honestly."

I roll my eyes "Oh, I hardly dou- oh god...look at all the guards." We must have made it to the harbor now because the salty sea air was almost overwhelming and the amount of guards on the street grew by an astounding amount. I pull Violet with me behind two barrells and look around at what I can see in the dimly lit area.

"Look there" I whipser, pointing to the pier "Those two ships must belong to Johnson...Look at all the guards that are near them."

Violet watches a small group of redcoats walk by a stack of crates and taps her fingers on the barrell's rim. "I really don't like being here Julia, I don't care if Connor is going to be here or not, we're not supposed to be here. If we get caught..."

I pat Violet's shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, hopefully things will get started up soon and then there'll be a crowd we can hide in."

We sit there in silence for what feels like hours. We watch the redcoats do their rounds and while they come dangerously close to our hiding spot, they don't notice two teenage girls sitting behind barrells. With each passing minute, the air became colder and the tension became thicker - it's as if the guards know something is going to happen, but they don't know what it is exactly. My knees begin to ache from crouching for so long and I can tell Violet is freezing under her thin shawl. I almost say that it was a waste to come out here so early in the evening but thankfully explosions start erupting from corners of the harbor and men start running from the shadows and onto the two ships that are docked.

"This is it Vie!" I squeal as I jump up from our hiding spot and to the edge of the pier, the crowd of civilians and guards growing by the second. "We're about to witness history!"

Violet holds onto my arm and walks me back a few feet "Why does this all look so familiar Jules? I feel like this has already happen."

I freeze in my spot as a realize how she's right: The dream we had a few nights ago. It was of tonight. Oh god, that meant that Connor...

"Julia! Connor's on the ship! Look there!" I scan the deck of the ship in front of us and gasp at the sight of the hooded Assassin. He's outnumbered eight to one and the guards just keep coming and coming after him. He can't keep up with all the people attacking him at once and just one misstep will surely mean the end of the line for him.

"Oh god Violet, we need to help him! How how how? There isn't a weapon anywhere!" I anxiously scan my surroundings but it's almost impossible to see anything besides people jeering at the sight before them. I wave my hands frantically and look to Violet, tears welling up in my eyes.

"If we don't do something Connor's going to die. Oh fuck what do we do!?"

Violet's eyes grow wide and she looks from Connor to me "Hell, I dunno! Throw something at them!"

I'm willing to try anything at this point so I grab a rock from the shrapnel of the earlier explosions and look to Violet before throwing. I feel a strain in my shoulder as I sling the rock towards the group and knock one of the red coats in the back, throwing him off-balance and knocking him into three other guards. I don't see where Violet's rock hits, but thankfully Connor is able to bounce back from the diversion we caused and kill the guards currently attacking him.

"Oh my god Vie, we did it! We saved him!" I hug Violet tightly and laugh at our unbelievable luck. To think we accomplished saving someone's life by not taking any. Holy shit, that's freaking incredible in my opinion.

"Oi, you two there! Thinkin' you can get away with that? You're traitors of the crown now!" I turn back to the ship sharply and balk at the red coat hurrying up to us with his pistol in his hand.

"I'll 'ave your 'eads for this" He cocks his pistol and aims it at my chest. Violet holds onto my arm and begins to scream while all I can do is stare...

The redcoat drops his gun suddenly and with a violent jerk and a guttural cry he falls to the ground in front of us. In his back is two arrows and I realize what just happened as I fall to my knees in shock. I stare at the Assassin holding his unarmed bow up at us and although I cannot see his eyes, I can feel a fire like nothing else radiate from his being before he turns, unsheathing his sword and slicing into a man like it's nothing.

He just saved our lives...

My life...

Holy fucking shit. YES.

Hiii so this took forever to publish and is shorter than the other chapters. I'm sorry, I've had a lot of things going on shop it's gotten hard for me to write as often as I used to.
I hope you enjoyed it though! Please vote and comment :)
