CHAPTER ONE —
( Kingdoms have fallen, angels be calling )────────────────
In the Edwards household, mornings were always unusual. Three different women lived there: a cheerful shop owner, a hotheaded firefighter, and a imaginative ten-year-old child. Daisy Edwards had inherited her vivid imagination from her mother, who had always encouraged her to be different. It was as if there was something in her blood telling her, "You're not a normal human. You're special."
The days always started the same way, with all three of them waking up at different times and eventually meeting in the same room for breakfast. Aella, the firefighter, always woke up first because her job required her to be at work just before eight. Luna was next. She had her own job to prepare for, but at the same time, she had to make sure that Daisy got up in time for school.
Luna entered the kitchen after waking Daisy and spotted a pre-made coffee on the middle of the bench. Aella was seated at the dining room table, and as Luna's eyes gazed in her direction, Aella saluted as if to say, "You're welcome." Luna grinned as she picked up the mug and then went to the dining room table, waiting for Daisy to appear after getting changed. "Good morning, Aella."
Aella nodded, her eye bags dark and her face clear from any emotion. She was not a morning person. "Hey, Luna."
As Daisy entered the room, Luna turned and sat in the chair across from Aella. "Alright, darling, how would you like your hair done today? Just a reminder: I'm only good at braiding."
Daisy giggled. "I know, Mom. And you can barely do them well."
Luna faked gasped as her daughter continued to giggle. "Excuse you, miss. I do lovely braids, thank you very much."
The brunette began brushing through her daughter's brown hair, removing all the knots before starting to braid it into a small bun above the child's head. Aella picked up her plate with bacon on it before, stood up from her chair, and walked into the kitchen to put all the dishes in the sink. "Well, I'm off to work," the woman said. She pulled up her suspenders and then began to put her boots on. "I hope the shop isn't too busy today."
Luna chuckled as she began to place Daisy's hair into a bun. "The shop's hardly ever busy, but thank you. And keep safe. I hope there aren't any fires to worry about today."
"Me too," Aella spoke, then walked up to Daisy and pinched her cheeks with a smile. "Have fun at school, Daise."
Daisy slapped the woman's hand away with a laugh. "I told you to stop pinching my cheeks, Aella."
"And yet I do it anyway," Aella responded with a grin.
Luna chuckled and shook her head. "I swear, you two sometimes act like siblings."
