I laid down on my bed the boys had gone to the gym before they made their video. The video was being uploaded. It still had another 2 hours. I pulled the covers over my head. I wasn’t tired but I just wanted to be alone for a bit. But then Gina walked in.
“Hey Dillion how are you doing honey?” She asked sitting down and stroking my hair to comfort me.
“I’m good.” I said
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, i’m a little nervous though. I just did a Vlog with the boys. It’s being uploaded as we speak.” I said pointing to Luke’s laptop that was on my desk.
“You have nothing to be nervous about. They will like you.”
“That’s what Luke and Jai keep saying. I’m not worried about that.”
“You don’t have to worry about me.”
“How did you know?”
“I am your mother Dillion. I might not have raised you, but I know what you think.”
“Am I going to have to go to school?” I asked. I knew that the school was on break right now.
“You only have a year left.”
“But Luke and jai don’t go.”
“You’re not in the Janoskains. Your mom told me how great of a student you were. And I already signed you up. You would be in class with James. Actually you’re in all the honors classes.”
“The kids there are going to bully me.”
“You don’t have to worry about bullies. You have to think about yourself. I told Luke this, when he was bullied. You have to prove to everyone you’re better than they are. You have to rise above them. I have seen your grades, you’re so much smarter than all of them and better. You just can’t let what anyone says bother you.”
“I’m scared.” I said and Gina pulled me into a hug.
“Don’t be. You always have your family here to support you. We support all of your decisions.” She kissed the top of my head. I heard the door slam.
“MOM WE’RE HOME!” Beau called.
“I’m with Dillion.” She called back. I quickly wiped away the tears. I didn’t even realize I was crying.
“The gym was gre-” Jai said but he stopped as soon as he saw me. “Why are you crying?”
“I’m not.” I lied.
“I felt like something was wrong in the gym.” Luke said.
“no you didn’t.” Jai said.
“No seriously. My eyes kept itching.” He smiled.
“Don’t lie.”
“I’m not.”
“Whatever, why are you crying?” Jai asked.
“Dillion is just nervous to go back to school at Penola.” Gina said.
“Don’t send her.” Beau said.
“That’s what I said.”
“She needs an education. You guys were different. You don’t even understand how smart she is. I think I have copies of your report cards in my room. I’ll be right back.” She said getting up and running towards her room.
“Dillion, you can’t be afraid of anyone at school.” Luke said.
“Trust me, we have all been there with bullies.”
“We got hate for making video and we were made fun of for not having a dad.” Beau said.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t apologize.”
“But if someone does anything mean to you. Tell James right away because he will be in school with you. And then you tell us.” Jai said.
“And we will be beat them up.” Beau said. I smiled.
“Here look at her grades.” Gina said handing out papers.
“How did you get these?” I asked taking my most recent transcript.
“Your mother kept me updated.” She said.
“Holy shit Dillion. You’re a genius.” Beau said.
“You got a 100 in math, english, science and law. And a 97 in history last year.” Jai said.
“I should have gotten a 100 in history too, but my stupid teacher lost my paper.” I said.
“You are freaking Einstein!” Luke said.
“What does AP mean?” Beau asked.
“Advanced Placement. It’s a college level class that you take in high school.”
“You got a 98 in those classes too!” He said.
“I know, you don’t have to tell me.”
“Where did you even get the brains from?” Luke asked.
“My parents are both college professors they made me start reading and learning at a young age. And Gina is smart.”
“Not this smart dear.” She smiled.
“The video is done.” Luke said running over to the computer.
“Crap.” I muttered under my breath.
“Don’t worry Dillion. We are all here for you.” Beau said as Jai and Luke tweeted the link. My life would never be the same.
