The usual conditions to obtain indulgence are:
- be in a state of grace and have at least a general intention to gain the indulgence.
- go for confession one week before or after the act
- receive Holy Communion preferably by participating in a Mass
- recite prayers for the intentions of the Church: one Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be
One can gain a plenary indulgence by performing the following exercises on Good Friday and Easter Vigil.
Good Friday: Taking part in adoration of the cross during the solemn liturgy
Easter Vigil: Renewal of Baptismal Promises.
