Tyler and I ran too the bus stop; we made it there just in time, actually a bit early to my surprise, or so I thought. Out of breath we both sat on the bench to wait for the bus to arrive, I breathed heavily as I looked over at Tyler well he looked back at me with an out of breath smile. I looked at the time, and felt my heart race, I now had a worried look on my face and looked around to see if the bus was anywhere in sight, it wasn't.
Tyler looked at me, seeing my worried expression. "Did we miss it?" he asked calmly. "I think so." I said my voice shaky. He moved over, getting closer to me on the bench and hugged me tightly. My face burned and my heart raced faster from the nice, but unexpected embrace. Tyler then softly whispered to me "It's going to be okay, I'll call Joseph or something." I couldn't think straight his warmth along with his arms around me all in a fluster. I looked at Tyler and nodded as I softly bit my lip looking to the side, then back up at him.
Tyler called Joseph and asked if he could pick us up. He explained to Joseph that we missed the bus and we didn't want to be any later than we already are. Not to long after Joseph was pulling up to us around the corner in his red jeep. "Hey Joseph!" Tyler walked up to the drivers door and smirked looking inside. "Hey man get in." Joseph said gesturing to the passenger seat and then the back one for me. I got in the car, so did Tyler and I looked out the window then too the two front seats in front of me. "T-thank you." I softly whispered to Joseph as he started to drive. Joseph slightly looked back to me and smiled "Yeah no problem." Tyler said "Yeah really though thanks." Joseph just nodded after that and drove toward the school.
Joseph pulled up to the school and parked his red Jeep in the parking lot. Tyler and I grabbed our bags then walked through the high school doors. The halls were quiets, other than a few delinquent students, no one was in sight. I looked up at Tyler with a nerves expression on my face, he wore one as well. I shuffled my feet to the office holding one of the straps on my bag with my hand.
We made it too the school office after a few minutes, I looked at the lady sitting at the front desk. Her name was Mrs. Barns and she was a very kind woman. Mrs. Barns was about in her mid-forties and had light blond hair, with hazel eyes, and she always wore a smile, Mrs. Barns helped me through a lot. I walked up to Mrs. Barns at the front desk, Tyler not far behind me. "Hey Mrs. Barns!" I said with a bit of excitement, and a lot of nervousness with a cheesy grin. I glanced at Tyler to see that Tyler was looking off into nothingness, his hands were in his pocket and his mind clearly somewhere else and he didn't say a word.
"Welcome back Lucy," Mrs. Barns said with a faint smile, stacking papers. Mrs. Barns looked at the both of us and then said "Late on the first day are we." She had a giggle in her tone. I leaned my elbow on the desk and said impatiently with a slight smirk. "Yeah, Yeah. Can me and Tyler have the tarty thing already please." Mrs. Barns rolled her eyes and wrote Tyler and me a tarty slip, then she handed us the slips with our class schedule. I turned and started to walk out the office doors, I waved behind me to Mrs. Barns as both Tyler and me went back into the empty halls.
I looked at Tyler kindly and handed him one of the tarty slips and his class schedule. Tyler looked at me and gave me a faint smile as he took the slip and schedule. Tyler and I both looked down at our schedules to see where the heck we were supposed to go. I sighed as I saw what I had for my first class, geometry. I looked up at Tyler to see if he had better luck than I did, but when I did I saw him already heading down the hall, opposite of where my class was. I sighed and walked to class hoping I wasn't too late.
