It Started With a Rose

Chapter 14

It was around ten minutes of Tyler and I smoking under the tree before we heard the school bell ring once again. I rolled my eyes, and let out a long sigh before standing up, grabbing my bag. Tyler looked up at me with a bit of confusion on his face. Tyler said curiously "What are you doing Lucy? You going back to class?"

I looked up at the sky for awhile and then over to the school gates, I stared for about five minutes before Tyler said "Lucy?" with a bit of a worried, shaky tone in his voice now, I breathed in a deep breath and then I answered "You wanna leave?" Tyler's eyes widened and he said "What?" his voice both shocked and excited for what I had to say, I then repeated what I said "Do you wanna leave? Like, do you wanna get outta here? Go on a walk or something away from this place." I looked over to the school building then down at Tyler who gave me a look of shock and impressed.

After a minute, Tyler got up and brushed the leaves off his arms and back, then said "Alight miss rebel Lucy, where are we off too?"  he had a smirk on his face and he grabbed his bag. "I want ice cream, want to go to Cones?" I said shuffling my feet trying not to blush, I enjoyed this time with Tyler, and he seemed to be opening up more to me, but this boy is still a mystery to me. Tyler smiled then ruffled my hair and said "Okay kiddo, cones it is." he then giggled and started to walk toward the school gates, which caught me off guard. After jogging to catch up with Tyler, we were walking closely to one another on the side walk in town.

I couldn't stop having this weird feeling in my chest and stomach, it wasn't a bad feeling, but different. It was like a warm feeling and a feeling of energy to the point of throwing up, like if you were on a roller coaster on a hot day, I didn't even resize I was smiling. Tyler and I finally got to Cones after about an hour or two of walking with stops for catching our breath. I smiled and looked up at Tyler then pushed the door open. Once I walked in the sweet cold scent of the ice cream and all the other sweets that was there. My eyes widened and I ran up to one of the windows showing the ice cream with the flavor names.

Tyler stood back and watched leaning up against a wooden frame next to the window by the door. I excitedly looked over all the flavors and felt this rush of joy and energy. I turned back to Tyler and smiled widely, like a little kid would do. Tyler smiled back at me and said "You done picking yet, you're taking forever." He giggled slightly. I glared at him slightly pouting and said in a whiny tone almost. "Just wait a minute!" He then started to laugh at me and looked to the side a bit with a smirk before saying. "You know, you can be such a child sometimes Lucy." My face started to burn red, I said to him shaky from being flustered " Y-yeah, well you're one to talk!" I turned and crossed my arms looking over the flavors once more. I heard Tyler say "Yeah, Yeah." In a sarcastic tone.

After a few minutes I finally picked what I wanted to get. I got mint chocolate chip ice cream in a waffle cone. After I paid for it I walked back to Tyler and we both walked out the door, Tyler behind me. I licked my ice cream and looked at Tyler, he just smiled and looked at me, his face a bit red. "You feeling better now?" He said a bit shyly. I nodded and happily licked my ice cream.

I paused for a minute from my ice cream and looked at Tyler and asked "So what now? I've never really done this kinda thing before." I said a bit embarrassed and also curious as to what he had to say.  Tyler looked off into space for awhile before saying in a soft tone "I know this arcade by Josephs if you wanna go." My eyes widened up and I felt my heart burst. I nodded and started to lick my ice cream once again.

As we started walking I tried to inch closer to Tyler without it being to weird, I know we had kissed and everything, but we never really talked about what we were or anything. What are we Tyler? As I thought these I found myself holding his hand, I didn't even realize I was till I stopped thinking for a second, my face burst into a hot red flame and I saw his was red too, I then whispered under my breath "This is nice.." and held his hand as I continued to lick my ice cream, heading for the arcade.
