A/N: Hey guys, this is the first chapter I write for this fanfic and that I write in a long time at all, LMAO. The book is set on the gameverse, so I followed their personalities exactly like they're in the games (A shy Red and a cocky Green), Gold here is called Ethan. Hope ya like It <3
Red was laying down on the floor of Mt.Silver, where he's been through the last 2 years, shaking and breathing harshly, fighting against some childhood memories and the cold. Creaking his teeth and hugging his Pikachu under his blanket.
"Hey, Red, let's play a little! Come on, wake up!" Green shouted waking up the other 6 years old boy. "I guess you're such a sleepyhead, aren't ya?". The brunette was standing near the tree waiting for Red to get up. Prof. Oak came out from the lab, arms crossed and a smile on his face watching the boys from far.
Red turned to the other side, trying to fade away these pictures of past that came out of blue in his mind. No success.
"Yo, Red, Gramps isn't around! I ran here 'cos he said he had a pokémon for me!" Green smirked at Red, with an air of arrogance. They recently turned twelve and their friendship was already not the same, they achieved the same height and age and soon they would go in a journey for the same goal. Prof. Oak entered the lab a few minutes after. "Go ahead, it's yours" he said gently to Red, who was ready to pick up his pokémon on the table when he was violently pushed by Green, falling on the ground, "I'll take this one, then!" he said out loud, picking up the pokéball while the other boy, in silence, got up still recovering from the fall.
"Green, don't be such a spoiled brat! Give him this pokéball right now!" Prof. Oak shouted to the grandson in response, while Red turned his head aside, clearly ashamed. "Gramps, I want this one!", the light brown haired begged in a childish voice.
The old man sighed:"Fine, then, you can have it", and turned to Red, giving him a wink "I think I'm gonna give you the eletric pokémon we catched earlier".Red deep breathed, waking up and getting free from these dreams of things that happened not so long ago. They were haunting him and It was worst than some ghost type pokémon curse, it somehow made his heart ache. He could still hear his rival's crying voice now fulfilling his head even awake now, from the day he beat him in Kanto's Pokémon League
"No! That can't be! You beat my best after all that work to become the league champ!? My reign is over already? That's not fair!"
He grabbed his own chest in pain, he wasn't lonely after all, there was almost all his team, right there on his bag, his Pikachu, that followed him through all his journey since start, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Lapras...
He lost...They've lost...For a boy from Johto region, certainly a very experienced one, but Red wouldn't expect his own 'reign' to end up so soon. He underestimated Ethan and it was all over now. Was it what his rival felt 2 years ago after being beaten up and seeing everything around him fall apart?
He patted his mouse alike eletric pokémon head and hugged his own knees, maybe it was time to go back home, maybe he missed his mother's embrace, the old professor giving him lessons and showing his new inventions. Who could he fool? The professor wasn't the only Oak he longed to see again. He missed his only friend. The one he realized he had crushed dreams years ago, battled to his Raticate until it badly passed out, humiliated in front of his grandfather taking his position soon after it has been achieved. ''Geez, things shouldn't have been like that...'' he mumbled to himself, feeling guilty. He stopped talking to his friend slowly and suddenly they turned into rivals. They were childs, it was time to move on and conceal all of this, maturity finally came (hitting him like a truck, tough.)
The boy packed up pretty quick, he had not so many weight to put in his backpack so it was a lot easier. He would do things right this time. Red heard somewhere that Green was now Viridian's Gym Leader, taking up Giovanni's place (whom disappeared after Team Rocket disbanded). Feeling a bit nostalgic, he climbed off Mt. Silver and in a tiny piece of time, went to his old kinda rusty red bike he exchanged for a Bike Voucher in Cerulean City two years and so ago.
