Rider and Goggles were curled up next to each other on the couch while a storm raged outside. The wind howled and the rain lashed against their window as it got darker and darker with each passing minute. They were watching a movie together in the living room, when suddenly the lamp that was giving off a soft, warm light flickered. The tv suddenly shut off, and with that the rest of the power in their apartment did too. They both sat up and looked at each other confused.
"What happened? Why did the lights go out?" Goggles asked anxiously.
"The storm must've cut the power in the whole building... I'll go check." Rider replied. With that, he got up and fumbled to the door, accidentally running into a few things on his way. He opened the door to see a dark hallway, with a few of his neighbors all poking their heads out as well, wondering what had happened.
He heard a thud behind him and a small "ow" and saw that Goggles got up but tripped over something. Rider pulled out his phone and turned on his flashlight so he could see better."Are you okay?" Rider asked while helping his boyfriend up.
Goggles nodded, but he still looked uneasy. His hands rubbed together and he stood close to Rider. Rider knew that his boyfriend hated the dark, so he thought of something quick in hopes to put him at ease.
"Wanna build a pillow fort? I think this calls for one." Rider said with a soft smile, while looking down at Goggles' cute face.
Goggles' anxious look went away in seconds and he beamed at the idea. "Okay!! I'll go get some blankets!"
Goggles made his way down the hall to their bedroom, but Rider heard a thud and another small "ow."
——————-
Rider lit a candle to see so he wouldn't have to drain his limited phone battery. By now, Goggles was almost done building his fort.
"Okay, Rider! I'm done!" Goggles called out.
Goggles eagerly awaited the other in his newly made pillow fort behind the couch. Rider couldn't help but chuckle a little at his dorky boyfriend. He picked up his candle and brought it in with him, careful to not let the flame touch any blankets. Rider felt a little dumb crawling into a tiny pillow fort, but he decided that it was for Goggles, so he'd be okay.
Rider set the candle down and looked at the fort in all its glory. He had to admit, it was pretty well done. He was impressed."Do you like it?" Goggles asked, "I used to build pillow forts all the time, I'm basically a professional." Goggles made a face, trying to look fancy and smart. Rider couldn't help but laugh again.
"Yeah, it's actually really nice. Good job."
Goggles beamed at Rider's compliment, but his toothy grin faded into a soft smile. Goggles then yawned and stretched, which caused Rider to also yawn.
"I'm sleepy, babe. All that work made me tired" Goggles said tiredly.
"Me too." Rider replied. "Plus, I don't think the power is coming back on anytime soon. We should just sleep."
With that, Goggles pulled a blanket over him and his boyfriend. He blew out the candle and rested his head next to Rider's. They were face to face, both of them admiring what little of the other they could see. Goggles leaned in to kiss his boyfriend, and then they pulled apart after a few seconds.
"I love you." Goggles said.
"I love you." Rider replied.
"Thanks for sleeping in my pillow fort. I know you probably don't want to."
"Of course I want to. I love your pillow fort, babe." Rider said with a soft voice.
Goggles giggled and snuggled in tightly to the one he loved, snuggling his face in the crook of his neck. They fell asleep in each other's arms, the rain lulling them to sleep.
They were pretty glad the power went out.
