"...it just reminds me that time is relative." lance finishes with a proud grin.

"i guess ive never looked at it that way." keith says with fake googly eyes as though to act like lance is a god. lance smirks, glancing off to the side. before he can speak, keith cuts him off. "because you definitely quoted einstein. i'm also almost sure you think you quoted from spider-man thinking i wouldn't know. another thing im sure of is, you probably skipped over the part where miles mentions quoting einstein himself. therefore, you probably didn't know it was a quote by alb-"

lance snores loudly which earns him a scorching pinch on the thigh. he swats away keith's fingers and lowers his gaze, "ow!"

"i was talking, you ignorant fuck."

"it was boring." lance smiles innocently.

"oh, but when it comes to you talking..." keith looks away with a knowing look. lance giggles, playfully shoving keith. they both have a small fit of laughs.

it unexpectedly dies down when lance gets a call from his phone that's in the side pocket of his back pack. lance slips it out, furrowing his eyebrows at the caller ID. sending an apologetic look towards keith, he gets up in a rush.

"im sorry," he walks off behind keith, near the opening of the bridge. he calls over his shoulder, "it'll just be a minute!"

after a few minutes of lances hushed voice, keith got curious. he said it wouldn't take long, yet it felt like an eternity that he was gone. he, never admitting this to himself, deep down missed lances company even though he was just a few feet away.

keith scooted over just enough to eavesdrop lances conversation.

"i guess so..." he mutters, "i've never done this before; i feel like a part of me is betraying him. i just hate lying. i hate it! i feel like.." he pauses to listen to the caller, "very funny, shiro."

keith side eyes lance curiously. he's running a hand through his hair, sighing. he's not faced keith.

"you don't get it! someone like keith isn't easy to be around!" lance whines, huffing when the caller tries to speak. "i don't want to be his friend, shiro!"

keith recoiled. his entire body hardening with each word. a sickening feeling of the earth completely sinking on him fills whatever freeness lance gave his chest for the many hours they'd been together.

he'd been fooled again. except this time, he didn't see it coming. he had been tricked by the least likely boy. keith let himself get so sucked in that he forgot to keep his guard at hand.

even with receiving this information, he didn't  to show that to lance the moment he sat back down beside him. his mind wandered so fast he couldn't listen to the rest of lances conversation.

it was almost humorous how just a few minutes ago he wanted to sleep in lances voice box. now it sounded of nails on chalk board and full of color.

"ugh, sorry," lance scoffs, "my mom wanted to know when i was coming home. as if i was com-"

he's lying. did shiro set this up too?

"i'm joking, you can laugh! anyway, what should we do now?"

lance played me.

"ooo, should we make s'mores? i have a microwave in the treehouse if you don't wanna make a fire pit."

maybe i wasn't made out to be in this world... okay, that's fucking goofy. it's not that big of a deal.

"keith?"
