Chapter 4: New Faces (Part 3/3)

Once we arrived at Hammerlocke, the sky was dark already.

"I think i will meet this 'Raihan' another day. It's pretty late and I'm tired af"

Bea didn't say anything. She had barely spoken since we started going.

"Anyway, I should head to the station now. So see you tomorrow, same place, same time right?"

B- "Y/N, can i ask you something?"

"Uhhh sure i think. Spit it out."

B- "You told me that you wanted to improve your trainer career here in Galar. But, why did you accept to become the gym leader?"

Was she thinking this the whole time? Was that why she didn't speak for the whole road?

"Well, after becoming a champion in the Kanto region, i realized i lacked something, and don't ask me why, i felt i could find it here in Galar. And besides, i want to be more indepent, because after my journey to become a champion, i didn't want to remain at home doing nothing"

She looked a bit surprised.

B- "Oh, I understand"

"And you? Why are you a gym leader?"

Her expression was different. Was it sadness?

"I... don't really know. Since i was a kid, my parents wanted me to become a very good fight type trainer. And once i became it, i became the gym leader too"

Parents issues uh. Big deal.

"Oh i see. Sorry if i made you feel unconfortable remembering this"

B- "Don't worry. It's not like i hate this. I really enjoy being a gym leader"

"Glad to hear it then"

She smiled a bit. 

"So anyways, i should go now. I'm totally exausted. Let's go to the station, shall we?"

B- "Well Stow on side doesn't have a station, so i just go there by feet every day when i return from training"

"And you always do that barefoot?!"

B- "Yep. It's part of the training"

"That's... respectable"

B- "Thanks i think"

I didn't know what to say. That was badass.

"Guess i'll just go home for now. See you tomorrow Bea"

"Bye Y/N"

-At the Budew Inn-

"Bea is such a badass. And she's cute, too. Would it be bad if i ask her out just to know her better?"

While i was talking to myself, someone approached me.

K- "Hey kid. You made it to the end of the day. I'm impressed!"

"Hi Kabu. Yeah, i made it. Nothing that my incredible strength and endurance couldn't handle" 

I said in a conceited way.

K- "A good amount of self-esteem is a good quality for a trainer. But don't be too arrogant!"

Ok boomer.

"Don't worry, i was joking. Anyways, how was your first day of retirement?"

K- "It was relaxing but a bit boring. Actually, i didn't expect retirement to be so boring"

"So you're repented of having retired?"

K- "What? Oh no. I know i'm not as young and energetic as before. Elder people must know when to leave it to the younger people, and i'm not minimally repented about my choice. It's just that i expected something else"

"Oh i see... I'm kinda sorry for you"

K- "There is no need to be sorry for me, Y/N. You are a young and talented trainer that is gonna be a talented gym leader, too. I'm sure of it"

"Well, thank you then"

K- "You're welcome. And now, you should really go get some sleep. Tomorrow you'll have to coninue you're training with Bea!"

"I know, i know. See ya Kabu"

K- "Bye, kid"

After that small but important conversation, i went to my room to get some rest. Maybe i can catch a new pokemon the next day. But for now, i just want to sleep.

I know this chapter isn't as long as the Part 2, but hey, i just wanted to end this chapter and finally start a new one where, well, things will get more interesting. And i think i'll surpass the type "choice" and automatically set the protagonist as an electric type gym leader, just for comfort. For now, SEE YA!
