Thursday, 1:45pmKillua rushed across the empty halls, only a bag of chips in hand. He only had a couple minutes left to eat, considering Kevin had stopped him earlier to talk. His chest ached thinking of Gon eating alone solemnly, without him.
He finally arrived at their usual spot, near the lockers. As expected, Gon sat there, phone in hand and mouth stuffed with food. "Sorry, Gon", Killua spoke, approaching the male.
Gon moved his attention to the call of his name. He smiled, causing his stuffed cheeks grow. Killua took a seat next to the male and glanced over his shoulder at the phone screen, seeing that Gon had been watching funny fails. Killua giggled and opened his chip bag.
"You like watching those?", he asked. Gon gulped down his water and flicked the screen off. "When I'm bored...", he answered. Killua's expression softened. "Sorry, didn't mean to leave you bored", he apologized, pecking him on the cheek.
Pink tinted Gon's cheeks as he took another spoon of his lunch. "Well I'm not bored anymore", he smiled. Killua grinned back and crunched on a chip. He turned his attention to the bag of chips in front of him.
"Hey, Killua...". The teen looked back to Gon's direction. His head was hung a bit and his eyebrows were furrowed. He looked both thoughtful and serious. "Yeah?", Killua answered, a little nervous.
Gon glanced back up at the teen, his caramel eyes filled with concern and curiosity. "Um...", he started, tension filling the air.
"Were you in the hospital?".
Killua stopped chewing his chips. A sudden anxiety rose in his chest. 'Where in the world did he get that from?', he thought. Gon's eyes were locked with his. Killua could tell he wanted an answer now. Killua furrowed his brows, reminiscing about his time in the hospital. Finally, he took a deep breath.
"Yes. I was in the hospital...".
Gon's eyes fell a bit. He swallowed nervously, taking Killua's answer in.
"Why were you in the hospital?", he went on.
Killua was silent. His head ached just from thinking of those moments. When he was in the hospital, all the injuries and pain he suffered, the people he caused trouble. He rubbed his neck, nervously.
"Well if you know about me being in the hospital, then you should know why, right?", he turned his attention back to Gon. The other teen only sighed.
"Yeah, but I wanna know you're side of the story...", he explained. Killua nodded, figuring that out. He swallowed and took a deep breath.
"I went to a party..., and I was out of it. I barely even remembered what happened. Everyone told me I fell on a glass table..., and that there was a lot of blood... The doctor told me I hit my head pretty hard and that there were shards of glass in every part of my body. I was in the hospital for almost two months because of my head injury...".
Killua was silent. His eyes watered slightly. "It hurt like shit...", he laughed a bit. He glanced down at his bag of chips, he fiddled with the wrapper. "People were nice in the beginning... I got a lot of get well texts and cards. Then, I heard Kevin got suspended for throwing the party...". He shook his head and wiped his nose. "I felt horrible... My parents did it...".
Gon didn't bother to say anything. It hurt him watching the other teen struggle to even tell the story. Killua's nose and upper cheek began to redden a rose color. The water in his eyes thickened and his breaths quickened a bit.
"The news got around to everyone else..., and when I came back...". Killua took another breath. "People were horrible..., I was a target, all
because my parents got Kevin suspended...". Tears stung Killua's eyes. Gon inched closer to the teen, hoping to comfort him some. "So I blamed him... for the way everyone treated me...". Killua cleared his throat and let out a muffled sniff.
