Ashi stared at the screen with great scrutiny. They were in the shadow of the giant chunk of Borg technology. Inside that mangled bit of alien debris, his friends were being rescued by his other friends. In his mind, he was doing his best not to count the seconds as he waited for the signal to get them out of there.

"Uh...mr....um...you." They had given the tactical officer command while Kal was away. The lieutenant wasn't comfortable, and it showed.

"My name is Ashi, and that is how you will address me."

"Sorry, um, Ashi. I'm reading a new transporter dampening field at the beam out location. Move us to these coordinates." He sent a series of numbers to Ashi's navigation controls.

"Understood, moving..." Just then, the entire ship rocked to the side and lights flickered as something hit them.

"JEM'HADAR RAIDER, BEARING FOUR SEVEN FOUR MARK FIVE!" the science officer called out.

Ashi moved the ship down and then up in a defensive pattern. Two more shots grazed past them and slammed into the side of the Borg station. Their ship turned away from the Borg station and looked directly at the Jem'Hadar, heading straight for them. It fired and this one cut right through the shields and hit their port nacelle, causing it to explode, rocking the ship hard to the side.

"OUR SHIELDS ARE NO USE!" Tactical yelled as he fired the two forward phasers at their attacker.

Ashi rocked the ship side to side when the Jem'Hadar swooped over them, firing four more shots, three missing and one piercing the aft section of the lower decks. Giant plumes of fire and smoke burst out each time they were hit. The boy at tactical fired back, getting clear shots, but only hitting the enemy's shields.

Ashi realized that the boy in command wasn't giving commands, so he took up the role. "Engineering. Transfer power from shields to weapons and engines!"

He got a kick of more power to the navigation and the ship swung around, dodging the Jem'Hadar. He outmaneuvered their weapons' fire.

Just then the Maquis ship decloaked, focusing on the Jem'Hadar. They used their disruptors to cut across the port side of the enemy ship and blew out one of their engines.

Peter's voice came over the com, "Sorry we're late! Our nav sensors got confused by the Expanse and it turned us around. Pull back. We'll take care of them."

Ashi answered, "no problem." He turned the ship back toward the Borg station, hoping to get close enough to rescue their friends and get the hell out of here.

On the screen, they watched the Maquis ship dart around the Jem'Hadar raider and lay into them with disruptors and torpedoes. The enemy's other engine exploded, sending the small ship into a spiral. The ship spun toward the USS Hope.

"SHIELDS!" Ashi yelled, but it was too late.

The Jem'Hadar ship crashed into the lower section of the ship, tearing it off and blowing up at the same time. The old Oberth ship's upper saucer, with its one working nacelle, spun out-of-control heading for the Borg station.

Ashi held onto his console to keep from being slung all over the bridge. The others were falling about aimlessly as the ship headed for its doom. All at once, the people present vanished in transporter beams.

Tumbling across the floor, Ashi fell out of the transporter pad situated right next to the bridge of the Maquis ship. The other members of the Hope hit the ground near him.

"Did we get everyone?" Peter asked.

A Cardassian in the back announced, "I have them, three from the bridge and two from engineering."
