All of them were shaken to the core when the first bomb fell. Deputy Jacquelyn Rook sprang into action, however, as Joseph Seed suddenly disappeared in the madness. She yelled and urged her fellow deputies and the Sheriff onward to where she'd left her truck. They all run, their boots padding across the ground, the sound lost among the deafening roar of the hell raining down in the horizon.

Jackie slams her door shut, yelling across the jarring noise for them all to buckle up and hold on. They do just that, while Pratt mumbles prayer and clasps his hands over his ears. Joey looks around them in silence, and Sheriff Whitehorse urges Jackie on as she kicks the truck on and speeds out of the compound towards the safety of the bunker in the mountains.

As she drives, tears running down her cheeks, she radio's her friends, telling them frantically to get to safety.

"Anyone who can hear me, listen!!! Sharky, Hurk, Jess, Grace, Nick, Addie, Mary May, Jerome... YOU NEED TO GET UNDERGROUND NOW!! There's prepper bunkers everywhere. A lot of you know where they are, just get to the nearest one and..." She chokes on a sob, her voice wavering as she keeps her foothold on the gas as they careen down the road. "... Be safe. " she finishes.

Jackie silently prays as she swerves the truck around fallen trees and debris, Staci, Joey and Earl all aiding her so they don't get blindsided by anything falling on them. She hears a crackling on the radio.

"H-hey dep, it's Sharky. No need to worry about Hurky and I, we're hunkering down with Sr. in a bunker now. We'll try the radio later on, just keep us posted if you can. Good luck, man, stay safe." The pyro speaks in a tone Jackie had never heard before, and she knows he's absolutely in shock, but she's glad he's safe. Another crackling, some static, and then another voice comes in.

"Jackie, it's Nick. Kim and I are safe in our bunker with Carmina, no need to worry about us. Talk soon ok? Make it to your hidey hole safe for us, friend. Over and out." Nick's voice is very choppy due to them being so far away but Jackie is relieved once again to know that more of her friends are safe. Those are the only communications that come through though, and she's left to pray for the rest of them.

Just as a tree is about to crash down on them, Jackie slams her foot on the brake, throwing it in reverse and pumping the gas as the tree collides with the road, some splintering branches causing the windshield to crack. Earl places a silent hand on her arm and squeezes it momentarily.

"Thank god... Ok Rook, get us the rest of the way there.. A-and hurry, God only knows how much more time we have." Whitehorse tells her, Hudson mirroring his thoughts from the back seat with a "Let's get out of here! "

With that, Jackie's truck roars as she switches gears again and lays on the gas, sending them barreling down the mountain road toward their salvation.

They make it, barely before they hear another nuclear warhead detonating somewhere in the distance, and Jackie gets them all underground to the Wolf's Den, where Eli, Tammy and Wheaty are waiting for them.

Within the first hour, all of them have a change of clothes and are all gathered together in the living space, sitting on the couches with hot mugs of something or another. Jackie's hands shake around her mug of tea, and she takes slow, deliberate sips. Staci had to put his mug down from how badly he was shaking. Jackie notices this, placing her own mug next to his and wrapping a hand around his tightly clenched fist.

Since she'd rescued him from his would-be tomb, she's been keeping a close eye on him and doing anything she can to help him fight the demons that Jacob implanted within his head. As she meditates for her PTSD, she encourages him to do the same and it has somewhat been helping. After the first couple weeks, she'd been able to coax his mind to calm so that he wasn't having his nervous speech tick of talking about the things Jacob forced him to learn and do.
