A cool breeze drifted through my hair and onto my skin, as I leaned against a tree in the park near our apartment. I had always enjoyed coming here when younger as I felt like I had no problems in the world and that I could just run and play all day with my worries hanging free.
Sometimes, I still felt the same way about it, but mostly, I didn’t, as I didn’t feel well about myself anymore which upset my father, Cat, and even me.
Sighing, I shook it off, and stood calmly behind the tree, but ready in case of something to happen. It was moments like this that I savoured, the cool wind in my hair while just worrying about nothing in the world but my thoughts at the moment.
The leaves drifted in the wind before slowly falling to the ground silent. Being as ready as ever, I held my two cans of shaving cream equipped in my hand, ready to fire at the enemy, known as Cat, which I knew I would be passing soon as she came to come and attack.
Only hearing the silent blowing wind rustling the trees and leaves, I decided I was safe for now, and decided I was about to step out to scan the area. Suddenly, a twig broke that sounded only a few metres away.
Knowing this was my time to shine, I jumped out.
“You messed with the wrong bitch”, I stated confidently before spraying her is a thick coating of Gillette fusion shaving cream. Cat screamed and dropped her cans, before picking up a shaving cream pie and smashing it in my face.
Shaving cream filled my nose and mouth with a foul taste that disgusted me and made me want to gag. If we ever had another fight, I would buy normal sweet cream.
Quickly thinking fast and grabbing a pie of my own, I smashed it down the back of her shirt that was just close enough to reach, before I ran and dived behind a table before trying to formulate an effective plan in my head to achieve victory.
If I could just lure Cat to a somehow without her attacking straight away, I could unleash my full wrath and destroy her, therefore winning this year’s fight and the championship.
For the last 7 years since we met in year 7, we had recorded the winners of each shaving cream fight and decided that the final year before we started University would be the final fight of the competition.
The overall winner of all the fights would get one thing of choice, supplied by the ‘loser’. So far, funnily enough, both cat and I had won 3 times, therefore the winner of this fight won the whole shaving cream fight championship.
I had already planned in my head what Cat would be getting me, and oh, it would be worth the years of shaving cream fights that I had won and lost.
It had all come down to this. It was the final countdown. Singing the song in my head, I peeked over the bench to try to spot Cat, yet no luck.
One rule we had made was ‘Never trust another soldier when in battle’, and oh, how Cat was about to regret breaking that so badly.
I almost felt bad in the way I was doing this.
Almost.
Putting all my weapons in my pockets and hands, I jumped up again surveying the area to see where Cat was. I finally spotted her behind a tree also prepping for our final decider battle.
I jumped out behind a bench yelling a war cry, receiving weird glances from passing strangers, before sprinting to the middle of the park, ready for my opponent to come and face my wrath.
It wasn’t long before I saw Cat ‘sneakily’ running through the bushes in ‘camouflage’ before ducking behind another one. Rolling my eyes, I stood ready facing her direction, showing how the fight was about to begin.
